Marriott Promo Code

If your staying at Marriott anytime soon, when you book your room on marriott.com, enter the promo code BAR for "Best Available Rate". Not all hotels will allow this code, but its a great discount for those that do. I used it for the Spring Hill Suites in Charlotte, NC and got the rate reduced from 149.99 a night to 84.99 a night.

I don't mean to thread crap but BAR is not a promotion, it's a very general term used by all hotels when looking for the best available rate.

It is no different than calling 1-800-MARRIOTT and asking for the best available rate for your dates of travel. If you received a price decrease then you also received a decrease in service or standard (room with worse view, closer to elevator or noisy outlets, breakfast not included in rate, etc.) You are not getting any secret deals with the BAR code.

Sorry!

Not saying it is a big secret, just something people don't know about. There is a whole list of public codes you can use, BAR works most of the time in big cities. Just helping those out that may be interested. And as far as getting crappy rooms, I've never gotten one using this, most times I check in and get bumped to a better room because of my marriott rewards status, and still get the cheaper rate.

I am a Marriott Rewards member and have used this rate. The Best Available Rate is an email they send out weekly, usually on Wednesday or Thursday for the upcoming weekend. They list the hotels trying to book up rooms at the last minute, which they do by offering a rate cut. The Promotional Code for this is BAR. It does not work at all hotels, it does not work all the time, BUT it DOES WORK on occassion.

Good luck everyone!

This is why you get them to change you to a room that you want. If your not going to complain they sure wont move you.

I stayed at JW one time at the reduced rate and changed my room 3 times until it was the one that I wanted.

"BAR" frequently yields rack rate. In my experience (dozens of Marriotts over the past 2-3 years), there are many other three-letter Marriott codes that actually house promotional rates.

I won't try to rehash the whole "Marriott rate codes" threads that exist on a lot of these boards, but start with LPR, NPR, PKG, EAT, and whatever is listed on the property page in the promotions section for that property.

Read rate rules carefully: codes like NPR and LPR contain a mix of publicly-available and membership-only codes.

And duh, the employee rates always rock. Hotels naturally control access to those rates tightly. I've used a Marriott "friends & family" rate once as an absolute last resort: a buddy of mine (the Marriott employee) had to get a signature from a fairly high-up supervisor in his department and physically FedEx the paperwork to the hotel.

that rate doubled the normal rate at a hotel I've been looking at for a future trip to Chicag. Chicago Marriott Schaumburg - $89/night. When I use BAR its $179/night

Wow, the MMP employee rate is 50% off the rack rate! I'm looking at a cottage price regularly at $329, but after entering the promo code, it goes down to $109!!!

However, it states specifically that at check in, must present
-Marriott Photo ID, OR
-Associate Discount Card and Photo ID, OR
-Room Rate Discount Authorization Form and Photo ID (Family members must have both of these if associate is not present)

Anyone have experiences using this code? Any Marriott employees here that can shed some light? Thanks!
