The affordable TCL 30 V smartphone is now available through Verizon. It was first revealed during CES 2022 earlier this year. Its specs won’t set the world on fire. But you’d be hard-pressed to find another 5G-capable phone that offers as much value as the 30 V and its $300 price tag.
TCL 30 V’s big draw is its support for Verizon’s 5G Nationwide and 5G Ultra Wideband networks – courtesy of its Snapdragon 480 5G chipset. It’s not the fastest chip in the world, but it’ll handle some light gaming and is more than powerful enough for scrolling through social media. You’ll also find 4GB RAM, a 6.67-inch LCD display, 60Hz refresh rate and a three-camera setup (50MP main, 5MP ultra-wide and 2MP macro).
The 30 V’s biggest drawback is the operating system, as it’ll ship with Android 11 instead of Android 12. TCL is yet to announce when Android 12 will be pushed to the handset, although it’s expected to arrive in the near future. Aside from that minor detail, there’s a surprising amount of value packed into the $300 device.
Verizon is the exclusive carrier of the TCL 30 V, and it’s currently offering the smartphone free with select Unlimited plans.
