SD Tips: Find the Best Entertainment Deals
It’s easy to break the bank on entertainment purchases. A simple trip to the movies with your family could run upwards of $80 if you’re not careful. Luckily, there are plenty of ways to save on things like movie tickets, music downloads, Blu-ray and DVDs, and even board games. Keep this page bookmarked to get all the current deals on entertainment purchases.
Movie Ticket Deals
There are lots of movie ticket deals to be had if you know where to look. Costco and Sam’s Club members can often get discount movie tickets with their memberships, while many theaters have loyalty programs that give out discounts on snacks and tickets after you’ve spent a certain amount of money. Fandango offers similar movie discounts with their membership program, as well. If you see everything that hits the theaters, it definitely pays to take advantage of these programs. If you aren’t able to score movie deals for your favorite theater, you should check out your local discount movie theater instead. The movies will be older, but prices will be much lower, typically only a few bucks per ticket.
Video Game, DVD and Blu-ray Deals
When it comes to finding Blu-ray deals and other discount movies, check out Amazon and Best Buy for good deals, especially during Black Friday and the rest of the holiday shopping season. If you’re in the market for video games, Amazon is one of the best places for new releases, especially if you take advantage of their 20% discount on new games when you’re a Prime member. If you’re looking at older titles, check out used games from GameStop to find really slick deals. November and December are the best time to buy video games, but you’ll find older releases are discounted a few months after updated games come out, so you could score a great deal.
Board Game Deals
If you’re looking for some good old fashioned family fun, take advantage of board game deals during the holiday shopping season, as well as in January and February (as retailers are looking to sell off anything left over from the holidays.) Toys ‘R Us and Target are probably your best bet for board games.
