The seller QualityCellz on eBay has the LG G Pad X for $132.99 with free shipping. Last time this deal was posted it was for $132 after eBay coupon code.
Purchased this LG and the ZTE from the same seller, using both personally. Surely the LG is more expensive, but the screen works in daylight (spent 3 hours using it last weekend sitting in the sun at a music festival) and most important of all: The LG can be upgraded OTA to Android 7.0, the ZTE is stuck on 6.0. Which multi-window capability is a big improvement in Android 7, and LG seems to have their own multi-window addition that ZTE does not (even on 6.0 before you upgrade).
Some other notes: They are new, but the seller will have opened them to unlock. I got faster shipping from this seller on the purchase of the more expensive LG (the $60 ZTE shipping was slow, as many noted). Both are budget tablets, as 2GB of RAM is pretty much the minimum you want; the devices aren't exactly 'fast' either, they are fast enough. To upgrade the Android OTA (the only known way), you have to use an AT&T SIM and set the date ahead a couple times. Same routine as the $50 Huawei Ascend XT people got from Walmart a couple months back; I used an H2O prepaid SIM and it also worked for upgrading ($10 for 3 months). One more thing: The LG can be put on the 200mb free data for life (FDFL) prepaid plan from T-Mobile - I did that on mine. $4 SIM card from Amazon. But won't do mobile voice or network SMS at all (yes, of course you can use data services for VOIP).
The LG and ZTE from this seller aren't steals, but they are good deals. If someone wanted an Android 7 tablet in 8", it's the best value I've found for solid hardware (a lot better build than my Teclast 8" 2GB dual-boot WiFI only tablet)

I'm on the T-Mobile PRE-PAID GOLD PLAN - i.e. I bought my four flip phones for FREE, as each came with $25 of minutes which I combined to buy $100 / 1000 minutes which entered me into the 'long gone' T-Mobile PRE-PAID GOLD PLAN. After almost a decade, I now have ~1300 minutes and pay $10/year (i.e. $0.83/month!) for cellphone service.
I checked the LINK on the eBay seller's page and T-Mobile uses GSM 1900 and this smartphone uses "3G - UMTS 850/1900/2100MHz" which I hope is the same thing. I have no use for 4G Data but this smartphone also has WiFi and a fellow customer on the local B&M Best Buy Customer Service line, immersed in typing on his smartphone , a few weeks ago told me that MANY retail locations have FREE WiFi.
Thus:
Will this smartphone work 'seamlessly' by just swapping the sim card from my flip phone into it?
- Currently, I have NO problems moving the sim card between any of my T-Mobile phones and my unlocked AT&T GoPhone.
Do MANY retail locations actually provide FREE WiFi that I could tap into to look up prices online, etc...?
- I'm planning on bring my 'inexpensive @ $33' Fire 7 tablet with me the next time I go shopping, bring up the WiFi Analyzer app and see what shows up.
Thanks, in advance, for your help (and restraint re: sarcasm).
Hard to compare this against the ZTE because they are just suitable for very different purposes.
LG is 2.2x the price but has 1080p, SD617 (this is like an I5 in the mobile world), 2X the storage and a newer version of Android. So is it worth 2.2x? I do not think there is a definitive answer.

Looks like no warrantee but I am buying anyway.
LG always gives warranty for 15 months after manufacturer date

So this isn't a smartphone but a 8 inch tablet a bit bigger than your fire 7 one. It has all the 2g, 3G, and lte bands for Tmobile. From what I could find your legacy plan has an option to buy data on a day to day basis for $3 but I'm not sure of the amount. The price and amount wouldn't change based on 3G vs lte though. A sim card is also optional but then you would just be relying on wifi.
The tablet also has a nano sim slot so unless your SIM card is a nano with the plastic around it making it micro or regular you would have to cut your sim and then buy an adapter to put in your old phone. You can find pictures of what I mean by googling 'SIM card trio'.
I also checked if Best Buy advertises wifi but I couldn't find anything in the store locator. I also couldn't tell you if stores have wifi because I never check and just use data. I hope I answered all your questions.
