Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.
Can I cancel after the first year?
Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Besides price, what are the differences between the Recovery Offer (for those Sprint customers porting out) and KickStart?
The recovery offer is just a credit which can be applied to regular plans or to KickStart as you wish. It would still be KIckStart, just with a service credit for a limited time.

That's good but the recovery offer I mentioned has nothing to do with the retention offer you mentioned. It can give you a further discount off the $25 KickStart price. So it might be say $20 a month instead of $25 for 10 months.

People can read back for details.

But $50 per line is not that big a deal so you are good.
Yeah I know but I got to the point where I just wanted to get it over with and not think about it anymore. I still have the original $15 plan for myself but I was managing my friends account and didn't want to have to keep messing with it.

Perfectly reasonable!

And that is good to know that porting in and out worked smoothly to qualify!

Just for information purposes, was it the same SSN or a different one?

comintel, you seem to have your finger on the pulse of this and a knack for being able to summarize well. Could you do so with the most reasonable options at hand? I went back several pages trying to collect info about recovery, retentions, kickstart, etc to figure out the best options but the info is pretty sprawled out and muddled. I assume the recovery is on for those who have left, retentions for those looking to leave. Want to try to nail the best mix of price-vs-hassle. Also, how do you know your expiration date on the BYOD deal? I logged in and cannot find any sort of plan expiration info anywhere.

You can check the MySprint app on your phone to show the end-date on your plan (it may effectively be a few weeks later than is shown, by the way, because of billing cycle effects)..

For those who want an unlimited plan, kickstart at $25 a month is often the best option, especially with only one line. If you have a number of lines or use a low amount of data, other plans and offers may be worth considering. Also a revised version of KickStart with hotspot may be coming.

If you want to consider the Recovery offer, port out all lines (or at least 2 if possible) to a non-Sprint carrier and call the number shown at https://www.sprint.com/en/landing...print.html and they will tell you what plans you are eligible for.

There is one variant which involves cancelling first before porting out.

Much appreciated. Any reports of people getting moved to Kickstart without having to port out/in first? I know the deal page says new lines so I figured that'd be the catch, hoping to avoid that (again)

Update 3/6/2020: The approach will only get you $35 Kickstart.

So right now the better approach is, instead of what is below, to port out and then get the Best Buy $25 a month Kickstart offer. It requires the purchase of a phone but that can be a very low-cost phone such as Moto E6 (which may even be free after discount). See other threads for details of that offer.

=====================================================

Here are the steps to convert a free plan line to Kickstart without needing to port out.:

Please note the steps below are needed only to avoid having to port out. If porting out sounds easier to you, just do that (port out to a non-Sprint carrier). Then port back in to add them back as KickStart lines.

(1) Call Retentions at 844-382-3317 and cancel effective at the end of your next billing cycle. Obviously do this only if there is at least a week before the end of your billing cycle. Check this date explicitly before calling. Do not do this if it is close as there would not be enough time. Limit your conversation with them to cancelling and do not ask their advice or attempt to pre-clear later steps with them (they will not do that). The cancellation must be unconditional and entered into the system and not be an arrangement for a cancellation to be entered later. Do NOT attempt to Cancel via Chat or by calling other departments.

(2) Then wait a day or two and call Recovery at the number shown at https://www.sprint.com/en/landing...print.html and ask if they will give you KickStart. As of the time this is written, they will. (You may get an email with a link to that site but you can call even if you do not get an email). Note there is NO CREDIT for KickStart any more (only for regular price plans). You are doing it just to save the hassle of porting out and in.

(3) If things somehow break down, just port out to a non-Sprint-related carrier before the future dated cancel takes effect and port back in to get kickstart.

OR another completely different way is just add a KickStart line to your account with a different number for now. Then shuffle numbers around later.

Update: A few people have had problems with the Retention rep not actually entering the cancel. As a result, Recovery cannot see it and cannot convert the line to KickStart.

Remember to cancel the cancel if you cannot determine whether it is pending or not. You can still convert free plan lines to kickstart by porting them out to a non-Sprint carrier and porting them back in.

My "free" plan is up 7/31 and I'm wondering which services I can and should switch to. I've seen a $25 or $30 Sprint plan mentioned, but that's too much for me because I make very few calls/text/data, and because my Sprint connection hasn't been good, often leaving me with no service .Even my g/f's TMO always has better service than me. And supposedly ATT has the best coverage here in TN, followed by VZW.
I'm using the Boost G6 Play. Which VMNO's can/should I use?

Re the service, check that you have roaming enabled.

For future flexibility, try to get the phone unlocked by calling 844-382-3317 and requesting it. Do not mention the word Boost. They may call it a ZTE Model. That will open more options on other carriers. You should do that while you are still on Sprint.

For a list of plans at all price points, see
https://prepaidcompare.net/

Others may have other suggestions.

It was the same account so no need for a SSN. I ported one line at a time to TracFone and then right back to Sprint so there were always at least two active lines on the Sprint account. Each line was off of Sprint for less than 45 minutes.
