Saw this Blendtec Total Blender with Wildside + Jar at Costco in San Diego (Bay Ho) for $229.99. Plenty in stock. Appears to be a pretty good deal. Don't know much about the model but it may be a Costco-only model or at least their model number is to prevent price matching. Brand new, in box with 8 year warranty.
You can buy t shirts at the dollar store. Do you do that? How about used cars? You can get one for $100 at Rent a Wreck - do you do that? If you don't like the deal, that's fine and good, but a high quality blender will last a lifetime and allow cooks to get results that are unobtainable any other way (pureed soups, smoothies with lots of ice, smooth as silk purees, etc.). When you have a great meal and there is a fantastic sauce of some thickness that is silky smooth, it was likely blended in a Vitamix or Blendtec or potentially run through a sieve by hand.
Starbucks uses Blendtec - whey don't they use your $20 blender from Best Buy?
I have yet to purchase but have never spent the money on a great blender and understand the arguments against. But crappy $20 blenders are terrible. With only 2 of us in our household, my $30 stick blender accomplishes 80% of the tasks a great blender would and with less cleanup. However, there is absolutely a place for this in a lots folks' kitchens. Just because it doesn't have one in yours means you should contribute something negative. This is a good, not great, deal for this product. PERIOD.
But thanks for the thread crap. I would think someone who has been around longer even than I have would know better. Tell you what - I'm going to take the negative energy you offered up and I bit on and take it and go do something nice for someone.
And no, I don't care if my deals get thumbs downed for valid reasons.
Bought this yesterday and let me tell you, a blender is not just a blender. I never believed the hype but after making up a smoothie last night compared to my Oster brand.......I am sold!! And I haven't even gotten to the other functions of this machine. I am not sure if this is the best deal in the world persay but I know I didn't want to drop 400-500 so this works for me.

Glad it's working well. It's not cheap but should last a long time.
I saw this in my local Costco as well and have been considering picking it up. Seems like a pretty good price. They have it available online as well - note the item number of 2930674
Paid $300 for mine from Costco couple years back, good blender and does my slash very well. That was without the twister thingy.
Don't have a vitamix to compare it too but definitely much better than the Ninja blender I got on Prime day.
I finally bit the bullet and bought one last night at my local store. I have been looking for a good deal on either the Vitamix or Blendtec for a very long time, and don't want a refub. This is the best price I have seen that isn't a one off clearance deal not available to everyone.
This is a great deal for a high end blenders, considering the excellent return policy that Costco offers. When my last one (original total blender, $499) died, I returned it with no questions asked, and used the funds to get the 570. The first one went from February 2008 to October 2015. I use it every morning to make a shake for my arthritis. Current one's counter is well over 2000.
The $299 Vitamix 780 deal looks really good too, and I often wish that Blendtec would finally just include the damn tamping stick for mashing ingredients into the jar. As it is now, you have to be particular about the order that you layer your stuff in blendtecs. The tougher stuff on the bottom, the softer things on top. The slant in the wildside jar doesn't really do it for me.
If shakes and smoothies are a part of your regimen, you probably don't even need a review or a reason...you already have one of these. If you want to start making shakes, this is a wonderful start.

Which is the better choice guys? Mostly for morning smoothies, pesto, nut butter, hummus.
