Hello experts! This seemed like a good deal to me... what do u think? I bought two for pickup tomorrow in 85747. This is for Verizon prepaid, though if you are adventurous you may be able to do more.

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Verizo.../953073971

Info from the box:
16 GB memory expandable to 256.
1.2 GHz Quad core processor
2800 mA hour battery
5 inch display
Eight megapixel rear camera
Five megapixel front camera
Fingerprint sensor

By the way they also had the G4 play at my local store on clearance for $40, though I believe this is the better deal.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

WILL NEVER work with Sprint since Sprint uses a whitelist ESN system. If you buy unlock code it will work with GSM carriers AT&T and T-mobile since GSM carriers do not whitelist ESN for activation.

Confirmed to work on:
* pageplus: already activated SIM. Everything works. Requires unlock code to get 4g workng. If cell bars shows an X do backup then factory reset.
* T-Mobile: (Voice, SMS, MMS, Data (LTE 2,4,12), and AT&T LTE bands 2,4,5,17 (with LTE Discovery app)
* AT&T postpaid: Activated SIM.
* FreedomPop: ATT LTE sim card in, entered the code, entered the APN and it worked on LTE and HSPA/HSPA+ but would not connect to 2G/Edge because AT&T shut their 2G network down.
* Cricket : used unlock code and entered apn. Voice, text (SMS/MMS) and data works. 1 time had an issue streaming, but I think it was my area (hopefully). Surfing the web has not been a problem. Good luck! glassr
* Cricket: Unlocked, and plugged in SIM. Data & SMS/MMS worked. Had to switch from LTE -> 3G -> LTE in Settings, and voice worked. Details in RED below in wiki.
* H2O Wireless: May take a few minutes for voice/text/data to activate after inserting sim. If after 5 minutes everything is not working properly then manually update APN settings (see APN list below in red).
* Nettalk (Tmobile): After unlock I get good data speed and voice calling with.
* Black Wireless (ATT): After unlock, I get voice, messages (including MMS), data working.
* Mint Sim: Confirmed to work for Voice/SMS/MMS/Data.
* Lycamobile: works after you select Lyca in the Network settings.
* TPO: Voice/SMS/Data work. Had issue with voice initially, but switching to 3G and back to LTE worked for both Voice & Data.
* Vodafone - Italy (roamed on ATT): Confirmed to work.
* Vodafone - Spain: Confirmed working with Vodafone SIM throughout Europe and Turkey.
* Ultra Mobile: Confirmed to Work - change APN settings to "BestMVNO" settings listed here may need to reboot after saving settings: https://bestmvno.com/apn-settings...-settings/OR you can activate with Tmo sim this will automatically populate apn for use with Ultra afterwards remove tmo sim replace with Ultra
* MetroPCS: Confirmed. You must call Customer Service and have them add the IMEI# to your account 1 (888) 863-8768. Reboot and success!
* Consumer Cellular: Unlocked, and plugged in SIM. Data & SMS/MMS worked. Had to switch from LTE -> 3G -> LTE in Settings, and voice worked. Details in RED below in wiki.

Specifications:

* 5.0" 720p LCD
* 16GB Storage
* 2GB RAM
* 1.4ghz Snapdragon 425 processor
* Support for up to 256GB MicroSDHC card
* Dual Band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n

If you order online for in-store pickup, make sure that they scan it properly into their system or you will have a problem with it. If they don't scan the phone properly, you won't be able to activate the phone because the phone never left the store as the system sees it

Yes, you can apply the update NDQ26.69-23-2 from Verizon without any issues or locking of bands for those using it on AT&T and T-Mobile.
Yes, that is true, but going into the future, you want to turn off auto-update firmware, and first check forum rooms to make sure it is safe. If it is safe, then update. Better safe than sorry.

Turn off Automatic Updates:
Go to Settings - About Phone - Scroll down and find build number. Tap on it 7-8 times till you get a message "You are now a developer".

Go back to settings - you will see a new option called Developer options. Inside this option you will find option to disable automatic updates.

Careful when buying cases for this model from online sources. Make sure the cutouts in the case line up with the phone. Different models have different microphone placement.

UNLOCK INSTRUCTION STEPS : Quote from Elementary_Watson

Do NOT turn on phone with Verizon Prepay SIM in place unless you want to activate on VZ Prepaid.

1. Note 15 digit IMEI on box or phone.
2. Order unlock code on Ebay giving IMEI to seller.
3. Take out Verizon PrePay SIM from phone and insert non-VZ SIM.
4. Turn on phone and enter unlock code.
5. Continue with setup.
6. For some reason If u are unable to make/receive calls switch to 3G and back to LTE do it while other SIM is on the phone.

*** You can also unlock the phone with no SIM card inserted by going to Settings / Wireless and Networks / More / Cellular Networks / Change Carrier. (This entry goes away once phone is unlocked). ***

If you have an issue getting voice calls to work with GSM in USA or Oversees:
In Settings, go to "more", open "cellular networks" then "preferred network type", choose 3G or 2G, test regular voice calls if it doesn't work try another choice of preferred network and test again. Restart your phone. If settings don't change automatically you might be able to change back to LTE and still have it work

Easy Way to Disable Bloatware

Follow this link from an earlier thread and click on the image and disable all the apps you see in the image. To disable, go to your Settings/Apps and then open each one and press "disable." Note this doesn't get rid of the Verizon sim card message on startup. To do that, follow the ADB shell instructions below.

More difficult way to disable Verizon-only bloatware
If anyone wants to permanently disable all Verizon crap including but not limited "No Sim Found" notification you can do this via ADB shell:
[Instructions for installing and using ADB Shell are here at the XDA site [xda-developers.com].]

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.motorola.setupwizard.phoneservice
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.vzw.hss.myverizon
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.verizon.messaging.vzmsgs
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.motorola.vzw.cloudsetup
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.vzw.qualitydatalog
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.verizon.mips.services
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.motorola.vzw.settings.extensions
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.vznavigator.Generic
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.motorola.vzw.provider
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.gotv.nflgamecenter.us.lite
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.vcast.mediamanager

NO ROOT YET

Since this phone doesn't currently have root, & likely never will with Verizon locking the bootloaders of its phones. I found a couple of features don't need rooting & works well:

1. DNS66 Adblocker:
https://github.com/julian-klode/dns66

2. Autohide (& show) the bottom Navbar for full screen immersive mode in all apps

Verizon E4 Prepaid Spec Notes
CPU Snapdragon 425 Quad-core
Screen 5" 1280x720 Arguably a budget phone w/ a 720p screen = better battery life than 1080p
Supported LTE (Verizon) LTE Band 2 / 4 / 5 / 13 Bolded = VZW's Primary low-spectrum Band for building penetration
Supported LTE (ATT) LTE Band 2 / 4 / 5 / 17 Bolded = ATT's Primary low-spectrum Band for building penetration
Supported LTE (T-Mobile) LTE Band 2 / 4 / 12 Bolded = TMobile's Primary low-spectrum Band for building penetration
3G HSPA+ Yes (at least Bands 2 and 4)
2G EDGE Yes Lol
VoLTE Verizon-only no VoLTE for ATT/TMobile
WiFI Calling Verizon-only no WiFI Calling for ATT/TMobile
MicroSD Yes
Built-in Memory 16GB
RAM 2GB

Other things to note:
* requires $2 unlock on eBay for unlocking for GSM (ATT/TMobile)
* has a very very fast fingerprint scanner
* jimx200 suggests downloading Open Camera for a better camera experience/quality

How to get this Verizon Prepaid E4 to work on Postpaid Official (and MVNO's)(thanks to AkumaX):

* swap in your Postpaid SIM (will "work", but you will get hotlined within 0-60 days)
* pay 12 months of prepaid service (old official)
* pay $XX amount on back of box (new official)
* pay 1 month of prepaid service (unofficial, but good success rate)
* put in an active prepaid SIM, request for unlock a month later (unofficial, low success rate)
* call CSR and ask them to whitelist for postpaid without paying anything (rare, must be extremely lucky)

rouge vs rogue:

Hi, I have the non-Verizon full unlocked version of this phone (paid $100 for it). Here's my take:

PROS:

Very nice sized phone, I have used it when I travel and don't want my full size Nexus 6.

The fingerprint reader is very good and is almost instantaneous. I recommend you enroll many of your fingertips which will make it easier to use and be sure and enroll your fingertips at various different angles as well so that you'll be able to unlock the phone from any angle.

CONS:
There's a terrible lag on this phone when using GPS and/or camera apps. I have had to reboot the phone many times in order to stop the lag. The phone virtually freezes requiring a reboot. I never rooted this phone, because when I got it there wasn't a true root anyway.

It's a good budget phone, but because of the lagging problem I can't really recommend it. If you never use GPS or camera it would be fine. Perhaps the Verizon version is peppier than the version I got. In comparison I also have a Moto G5 plus, which is similar in having two gigs of memory, but which must have a much better processor because it never lags.

NOTE: for $60 more you can buy the fully unlocked carrier free version of this phone, which eliminates all the hassles of unlocking, etc. You can also use on Verizon postpaid, which is what I did.

I picked it up yesterday, has fingerprint scanner and front facing camera flash, also its 16GB, HD display + expandable memory via micro sd card. Im pretty sure its locked to Verizon prepaid, but I haven't tried sims yet. It feel like this phone should be more expensive, but its only $39.88! For the price, its amazing! Hands down best you can get around that price.
I ordered the phone yesterday for in store pickup and picked it up last night. I submitted an ebay order for an unlock code (only $2.09) last night and received it early this morning. I popped my FreedomPop ATT LTE sim card in, entered the code, entered the APN and it worked on LTE and HSPA/HSPA+ but would not connect to 2G/Edge because AT&T shut their 2G network down. Amazing phone for the price. Definitely a slick deal. Thanks OP and others.

This is the listing I purchased: http://www.ebay.com/itm/221936302683
To add my results:

I ordered 3 online for store pickup last night. I was only able to buy 2 with one transaction, but the guy was willing to sell me all 3, just with separate transactions. I declined and just took 2.

I opened one and removed the SIM card before turning it on.

I then bought an unlock from this listing on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/221936302683

I received the unlock code this morning, popped my T-Mobile SIM in and entered the unlock code.

The code worked (said it was "successful") and then asked for the code again. I entered the same code again, but this time is was "unsuccessful". I was worried, but I just closed the box by the "Not Now" button.

The phone complained about a non-Verizon SIM card, but allowed me to make a phone call.

I added the T-Mobile APN and was able to connect to LTE and 2G but not 3G.

I was disappointed that I can't unlock the bootloader using Motorola's site (it says it's not eligible).

Overall, I would recommend this for anyone who wants a great, cheap phone who doesn't mind not rooting or doing custom stuff.

Total: about $42.

Can this be unlocked to use on AT&T? I'm using the 2nd gen Moto E too, but it's pretty slow and has no space for apps. I installed a microsd card, but you can't move all apps over to it for some reason. Every time I go to update my apps I have to delete something to get the rest of them updated....

Nice deal if the E4 proves to be a decent budget device. Kinda sour on the E series after the horrible speakerphone performance of the E2 but the 4 is probably a lot different. This is the same price as the Verizon Prepaid Moto G4 Play that's on clearance at some Wally's right now.

Yes, but you have to pay Verizon a fee. Last time I did, it was $30 for one month of basic service. They told me I had to wait 30 days, but was able to use phone next day. That was 4 months ago. YMMV
