This item is not sold by Newegg!

It's a 3rd party selling this item.

And here is the link to their newegg ratings page, and as you can see, many people gave them very bad reviews.

User Review:
Pros: Very easy to setup and easy to use. Can control things plugged into these away from home using 3G/4G data.

Cons: Hard to plug other things into the 2nd socket in a normal 2 plug outlet when using these.

Judging by the size of the unit in the pictures (giggity), I would say yes.
Your car has a prop 65 label, so guess you shouldn't be driving or traveling in one either.

Other thread someone said no to Google Home.

I personally have no idea, have not researched if it is IFTTT or smartthings or Wink capable.

In for trying these out. They'll be the first Wi-Fi plugs for me to try.

1. For someone clueless about these things, I don't need anything else besides my Echo (and smartphone for the Alexa app) to make this thing work?

I read the description and it says "no hub required".

2. So if these don't need a hub, why do other home automation devices need one?
