I just contacted Field Supply and asked what the weight and inseam measurement was. They couldn't answer either question. I then asked if they would pay for the return because they couldn't answer the question and if the sizing didn't work. They said no.
Closed bottoms are called waders. Useful if you're going into the water. Think fly fishing and I use mine clam digging.

Open bottoms are a must if you're fishing on a boat. Charter boats usually won't let you on board if you're wearing waders. The thought is, if you go overboard they fill with water and you're more likely to drown.

Bought these for my boyfriend for Christmas. He will say he doesn't need them, but I'll be happy when it's pouring and he's glad he has them! Thanks OP!Applause

Sorry for the stupid question but what are these typically used for?

Would these be good to wear as kayak pants when fishing?

I think they're mainly for that exact purpose... Fishing. But I think people buy this brand when it's on sale for rain suits.

Not the greatest customer service, but thanks for giving them a call.

Don't think these would be good for fishing because they are open bottoms. These are just rain pants to be paired with some rain boots.

Can't comment on these, but I bought Columbia backcast convertible pants from Amazon for kayak fishing and they are great.

They are kind of like a bathing suit material and have a liner, but they keep me dry from splashes and slimy fish. They arent insulated (which I prefer). I recommend them for kayak fishing.

Also, I wasn't sure on size, so I bought both and returned the one that didn't fit to Amazon for free.
