- Plug in your to/from cities
- Look at the calendar for your prices...cheapest one is bolded green
- Click on it and see available return dates
- Use those dates on Expedia [expedia.com] (usually $1 cheaper) Priceline [priceline.com], Orbitz [orbitz.com] or the actual airline directly.

Just don't go. I bet there are so many very nice places and things to do. Rio can be dangerous in certain places and times as any other BIG city but it has a bunch of things to do, see and eat
What's wrong with Rio ? I thought it was a touristic area

United had contacted me before for late flights but I guess if they overbook or something you are on your own (but they will keep your money).

That's not exclusive to United. AA has done to me before as well...
Avoid Rio de Janeiro and you are safe.
