This seems to be a rather good price for a new blender in the Blendtec Designer series. Blendtec Designer 625, black only, on sale for $299. The 20% off coupon works to bring it down to $239 for most. Note, there was a brief Amazon sale in April of this year for a similar model @ $200.

I bought one of these, and then a year later I bought a Vitamix. I wasn't satisfied with the smoothies.

Interesting. I am actually still in the process of researching which brand to buy. I've noticed Vitamix fans are a bit more vocal. So you have found the Vitamix is better for smoothies? Because that is also one of the primary uses I would have for a it...

I would recommend you make a decision based on how you like your smoothies. I prefer Smoothie King, so to recreate it I needed a Vitamix. When I used my Blendtec's smoothie button, they came out watery. I had to use a different button- which I can't think of right now. It was something like "ice crush" to get the texture I like.

i recently got this, it has been 4 weeks to be exact and so far we love whatever comes out of this, we fill it, press the button and let it stop by itself, even though looks it is done. Amazing smoothies, kind of layered.
I've never tried vitamix, so cannot say which is better.
And at this price it is not a deal, it is a steal. Check prices on other shops.

I have both. I'm not sure the Vitamix is worth the premium, and I like the blendtech. Either one you can't go wrong. I use the Vitamix for smoothies, the blendtech is better for soups and such.

Clicked on the black and shows as $499 is it dead or was it a price error?
