It depends on your vehicle. They installed this kit on my RAV4 last time and there was no extra charge.
Not in most cases actually. Had one of these installed on our 2011 Optima and 2012 Dodge Journey, neither required anything extra. This includes locks, etc. integrated in with the remote starter. The blade will interface with most newer cars with no additional hardware needed. Older cars that say... 2010, you are probably correct, additional hardware will be needed. Call Bestbuy to make sure before buying.
As a consulting electrical engineer who spent 9 yrs as an installer with Circuit City and Hhgregg before deciding to go to college, i can say that installs will be hit or miss.

So many variables are at play here. Installer experience, vehicle complexity, schedule (how busy the shop is) etc. One shop may be able to handle simple installs but lack an installer that can do the tougher cars. Many times i was called in to rescue an installer on a remote start when they were in over their head.

Newbies always have to learn on their first car, just hope it's not yours. My experience is half the installers i worked with are average skill. 10% were top notch and the remaining 40% are the ones who ruin the reputation of the good 60%.

On one hand with all the bypass modules and interface modules on the market, remote start installation should be easier than it used to be.

Best advice is chat with the installer if you have doubts, they should be willing to chat, address your concerns and be comfortable discussing what they are doing yo your car.

Good luck.

I have this exact unit in my 2016 4Runner Trail (not Limited so I didn't need the bypass module) and I love it.

Does this one have the option to be able to use your smartphone to start it and unlock/lock it? I couldn't find that anywhere on the site.

Call your local best buy and interview the tech, make sure they are knowledgeable. On my 2009 cx-9, 2014 q50, installs were great however both seemed to interfere with the factory proximity system. The keyfob wouldnt get recognized time to time. Besides that, the 2 way works flawless
