This item is one of those things you don't realize you need, until you have one. Some other examples of use: checking aquarium temperature, checking water temperature when cooking (dough, breads, anything with yeast). Checking temperature of oil when frying. If the refrigerator doesn't feel cool enough, you can get a reliable temperature to see if it might need to be repaired before food is ruined.

You can check the temperature of your a/c or heat at the vents. You can also use this to find drafts in the house, check weatherstripping.

So many uses, and for under $5
instead of saying "extech" you have to spell it out loud. Say alex order "e-x-t-e-c-h IRT25 infrared thermometer". took me about a dozen times to figure that out.

Checking electric motor temps for variations so you're more likely to know when gearboxes, bearings or windings are failing.

Many other uses but that's an example.

I use this to check the internal temp of my masterbuilt smoker aiming through the vent. When trying to figure out why my brisket is stalling for so damn long at 170 degrees for the last 2hours and I doubt the smokers internal temp reading, I use this to confirm that I'm at 225-230 temp.
