Talk to your local DT manager and see if they will match the $100 off $400 deal. I have done this twice in the past with 2 different discount tire locations. They put in in as a competitor coupon. Keep in mind they are not obligated to do this, so YMMV on this approach.
Tire's price at Discount Tire Direct is about $25 more expensive per tire compare to Tire Rack (i checked 275/40r19 tires). Not really a deal for me.
perfect timing. looking for a new set
edit: the tires I was looking for were made more expensive

I compared a bunch of 17" tires - I'm shopping for two cars in varying sizes for each, Prices were close to Tirerack, just a smidge more expensive ($5/each) in general. The $100 discount and free shipping easily makes them less expensive. Not blindingly so, but $100 is still $100.
FWIW, the General G-Max AS05 in 235/45-17 fits a wide variety of recent-ish cars (may be +0 or possibly +1) and at $468 with $100 off and a $70 rebate a very good value on a decent (but not great) tire. ~$300 to your door! Tirerack would be $370 for me, including shipping and rebate, and this is one of the worst offenders - $96ea on TR vs $116ea via DTDe.
if buying dtd tires will a local dt B&M mount & balance for free?

Definitely try this- my local store will match or beat any of their internal promotions or any competitor out the door price.
I think the $60 and $75 or $100 double rebate is always better but then again my cars have smaller wheels that don't use very expensive tires. They aren't even $400 to start with and $60 plus even $75 is more than $100. But if this floats your boat, have at it.

Tire rack charges shipping tho unless you can pick them up yourself or have their mobile installer install them. Also i recently just bought 35's for my truck and tire rack only had a couple tires compared to much more on discount tire so tire rack may not work for us ppl with trucks
