Hi all projector fanatics,
In case you were not aware, new DLP pico projection technology is just hitting the market that will enable smaller true 1080p pico projectors. The first product that uses this technology was just released, the Vivitek Qumi Q38. It is a battery powered 1080p projector, only 1.3 inches thick. It's $549 now but that price should drop over time.

Here is the technology announcement from back in January:

There will be many more pico projectors hitting the market that use this technology over the next six months or so.
To manage expectations, these are LED illuminated pico projectors with brightness levels under 600 (spec on the box) lumens, compared to a typical lamp-illuminated 1080p DLP projector that reaches 2000-2500 (spec on the box) lumens. Still, they will be able to make a very nice looking 70-80" screen in a dark room.
