Dell New Alienware Aurora Desktop: Intel i5-8400, 16GB DDR4 2666, 1TB HDD, GTX1080, Win10H @ DELL MPP - $1,082 + Tax after 15% coupon - MILITARY ONLY

Go to MPP and find New Alienware Aurora. Upgrade to GTX-1080 and the prices is going to move to $1279. Add the 15% off coupon for military, it will drop the price to $1,082.89 + tax.

$1399.99 - $317.10 = $1082 before tax

This isn't as good as the door buster. But you are effectively trading the i7-8700 + 8GB for i5-8400 + 16GB.

No link OP. Also, you can get 10% cashback at some popular rebate sites today. Assuming the deal is actually at dell.

I'd probably upgrade to the 256GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD for $98 too. The 1TB is pretty small for a desktop storage. (assuming you're going to upgrade ssd)

Don't upgrade on through Dell. Just get a 960 Evo for $110 on Amazon. That way you can get both the 1TB HDD and the SSD.
It's super easy to install btw.

It's not about ease, it's about the 1TB being useless to people like myself. Too small for backup and I don't want to run more than one HDD on a machine like this. It's only $84 for that upgrade after military discount, even less with CB.

I thought the 1080 gpu requires a larger wattage power supply? Guess not?

Use that thing on your shoulders--that's why it's there. Roughly 10% of the adult population are veterans. We're a largely successful group. One that's highly sought after by retailers. It's right around Veteran's Day. What do you expect?
