Bestbuy open box is a ymmv imo. If you don't buy it in your local store and order online it will be shipped from gosh knows where and than the employees packing it don't care much.

A few months back I ordered the cheapo vivobook for my mom for 160 as an open box excellent. The laptop box was not taped shut. There was basically no protection over the open end of the laptop box, and this box was put into a packing box that was about 4 to 5 tines deeper than the thickness of the laptop box. They put barely 1 layer of packing tape around the box. This meant the laptop box could move freely. I immediately noticed a nick on the lip of the laptop (so not excellent condition) and drove it to the store to return same day. They were lucky nothing appeared broken but were talking about a laptop poorly packed and being thrown around by the delivery company. Not taking any chances on that.

The sad thing is this was not a one off according to the rep who got the return. They get a lot in my area because they are the closest bestbuy in a 10+ mile radius i believe. They told me they have seen worse and unfortunately would never buy a open box item online. They are packed much better from the warehouse brand new.
