After going through a bunch of these the most important thing to look for is compatibility with your phone case. The headphone jack hole in most cases is small and doesn't allow the hard plastic at the bottom of the male adapter to fit. Taking the case off to plug one of these in is very frustrating. Your phone may now slip around if you had a rubber case and is prone to breakage.

Now that I have one that is long enough to get past the case it's like heaven.
