I don't understand why people are hardwiring this? If you're hardwiring it then presumably there's romex nearby to wire it to and if there is than why wouldn't you just create another outlet???

A couple of points to consider, 1) if you hard-wire these you will be voiding any shot at returning these in the future should you need to return them, and, 2) I would use toggle bolts instead of sheetrock anchors to hang these from the ceiling. It would be just about as easy to add an outlet as it would be to hardwire these so that would be my recommendation.

Just a warning to anyone considering this.

I know at least one person who used to own this unit (bought from Costco) and it caught on fire (circuitry inside the unit) while he was inside the shop. Unit was less than 2 months old. Thankfully he caught it before the fire spread.

I don't see the single pack for $19 at costco.com, just the two pack.
Picture shows as "Also available on costco.com". I even typed in item # 689518 and still showing a 2 pack.

Yes, the account login was taking forever. I was eventually able to order.

I bought mine for $25 to start my vegetables. My tomatoes started well with them. Although they are very bright and I really like these lights nothing beats sunlight for growing things. Remember that when you buy citrus trees at costco.

Can I hang these with drywall anchors or do I need to attach to a stud?

I also have the same questions regarding turning this into a hardwire.... I currently have a hardwired flourcesnt fixture in the garage. Would this be an easy swap? or should i just be buying LED bulbs to fit the old fixture?

They're super light. I think anchors would be fine.
