DirecTV has crazy retention deals right now

This week, DirecTV's loyalty/retention department has some absolutely insane offers available that can get the cost of your service down to almost nothing. These offers will usually stack with other promos on your account, so you should try regardless of whether or not you're in contract. The discounts being offered this week generally don't extend your contract. Because of how crazy these offers are, I don't expect them to last very long, try to call today if you can.

The typical discount from these offers is $60-80 monthly for a year in addition to any other offers that you're eligible for or have on the account already. Premium channels and equipment upgrades may be free and/or discounted as well. These offers are somewhat targeted, and also depend on the rep you get. Nearly everyone will get something, some people will get amazing deals, and a few people will get nothing. If you get denied, you can try again with another rep.

This applies only to existing regular DirecTV satellite service accounts in the USA, not DirecTV NOW.

Here's how to get these offers:
* Call 1800-531-5000
* Say "cancel service" to the robot when it asks why you're calling. Confirm it and say no to moving. This should get you to the loyalty department.
* Tell the rep that you are thinking about switching to another TV provider for a better price (helps if you can mention a specific provider and offer) and ask nicely if there's any offers that DirecTV has available to lower your price and retain your business.
* The rep will review your account and come back with some offer. Maybe a lot, maybe a little, maybe nothing. Make sure to confirm the exact terms.

It took me less than ten minutes to save $60 a month with the above steps. I got my pre-tax bill down to $23 for xtra, HBO, genie, and 4 TV's.

So I called the next day to the 800-531-5000 number. Seems like this number has turned into the generic CS support for Dtv. After explaining what I was looking for they gave me a separate 866-444-3594 number to call for loyalty support.
The 866 number has no wait, no automated phone tree to yell at. They immediately picked up and asked how they can help. I told them what I wanted and they were able to put me on hold and look for offers. She came back with a first offer of $70 off each month for the next 12 month (which is $15 better than last year). So I took it. Not too difficult of a call. Make sure your agent sounds like they are in the US and call during the regular biz hours of 8 am - 7 pm EST for better result.

OP here. Didn't have any luck today on my yearly call (no offers available, my $40 off just ended). Here's an updated inventory of DirecTV numbers:
800-824-9077 connected me to a retentions rep in West Virginia.
888-333-0804 is winback only. Because I didn't have a pending or applied cancellation, the rep couldn't help me.
877-999-1083 is general billing.
My old loyalty number, 866-444-3594 is no longer in service.

Will give it a try today, currently have Internet+DTV for $80. Don't know what they can do. Will post back if I find any luck.
OP did you get any offer calling them.

Edit: Just Called DTV (20 min wait time) and said I want to cancel. She gave me direct TV for $5 a month for 12 months. I have select package. she offered me entertainment package for $16, which i declined. Now my current total is $35, including internet.

Internet (50 MBPS plan) + DTV Select package = $35 / Month Applause
Thanks OP, you saved $420 for next 12 months.
Repped!!!!

We've got these companies on the ropes. They must be feeling the pressure. With movies/shows on Youtube TV, Netflix, Hulu, Sling TV, etc and landline phones becoming like dinosaurs, they are having trouble violating your wallet.

wow $23 a month is an insane price. Reminds me, my dish is not picking up a transmission... I wonder if I need to pay for that or if it falls under DTV's policy?

Seems like the dish is no longer level, so maybe the ground shifted from all of the rain.

Exactly. They've been sticking it to their customers for far too long.

This isn't anything new, don't know what all the commotion sounding like a car salesman is all about Wink
Also, direct number for Loyalty Dept. aka Retentions is: 800-824-9077

I'm paying $71 a month (was $180 after previous discounts expired), could've paid around $50 if I downgraded to the Entertainment pkg.
I called in September.

This is what I got:
$60 credit x 12 months
$20 credit x 12 months
$7 HBO credit x 6 months
50% ($2.50) off HD Extra Pack x 3 months
STARZ $6.99 - added this for the heck of it for the family
Showtime free x 4 months (auto cancel)
Cinemax free x 6 months (auto cancel)
And added Sports Pack on 11/15 - free for 6 months

Upgraded to Genie DVR, x2 Genie Mini 4k at no cost
DVR and HD fees waived for 24 months.

This is my grandfathered plan:
Choice Xtra Classic (207+ channels)
HBO
HD Extra Pack
NFL Sunday Ticket MAX
EN Espanol
Regional Sports

When I called I had all of the necessary info ready. Loaded a page for Xfinity and Dish Network and had it at final checkout to see the pricing and mentioned to the rep actual deals that other providers had.
Your discounts will depend on how long you have been with Directv. I've been a subscriber since 2000.

Good deal. Although I do like my DirecTV Now, I do miss not having to rely on my internet speed to watch tv comfortably.

Let's see Directv needs our help now. hummm? I buy 3 receivers at retail from a authorized DTv dealer. With Dtv's pushed updates my receivers become obsolete. I buy 3 more at retail, the total install was done by me. Fast forward 7yrs and thousands of dollars later and i am sick of price increases and dropping channels we like to replace them with worthless channels. I cancel and they send me a bill for the receivers, i call and we agree i own the receivers $0 bill due. AT&T comes into the picture couple yrs later, AT&T starts digging through the trash for food $$$$$ and sending out make believe bills just to see who will pay and who will tell them where to stick it. AT&T states i owe a lease fee, i politely state no and never contact me ever again! At this point Dtv owes me about 5yrs of free tv service from the yrs they thought they owned me. BAD COMPANY ..... No favors coming from this address ....
