AeroGarden Classic 6 with 6-Pod Gourmet Herbs Seed Kit and Seed Starting System $59.98 at Home Depot. This is old model without digital and wifi. However, for me, these extra features is a waste of power consumption.

Only 20W LED lighting. The newer full size models have more than twice this amount at 45W!

Sweet..time to grow my own pot
I personally avoid GMO products whenever possible, and agree that Monsanto has done some evil things in the past. However, if not for Monsanto's modifies seed strains that are immune to Roundup, farmers from all over the world would not be able to produce the same yields and the world would see a far greater food shortage than already exists. demand for food is rising as the global population does, and until more affordable and sustainable methods of producing food on that scale exist, Monsanto's products are helping solve an increasing challenge the world today.

Buying locally sourced, organic, non GMO produce is a luxury.

You can always grow your own plants by buying spare sponges and seeds elsewhere.

The pictures of this are always tempting but I think it would be more cost effective to buy herb seeds on ebay (often as low as 99c) and a flexible desk lamp that could use an led bulb or grow bulb, and then water them as needed. It wouldn't look as pretty but it would be more or less the same set up for less money.

anyone used this kit before? it says good for seedling for outdoor transfer. Is this huge enough to grow the herbs to a state where i can just harvest without having to transfer outdoor?

I bought one years ago when they still used CFL bulbs, and not necessarily the most cost-efficient ones (IIRC mine were around 60W total, which turned on 12-15 hours a day for months can add up. Now they've switched over to LEDs, which I assume use a lot less power. Do they sell kits that allow you to swap the bulbs, or at least top part, so you don't have to buy a whole new one, and has anyone figured out a way to DIY it, since they probably charge a lot for such kits if they exist?
