earlier this year our local chicago area grocery store Jewel had $10 off $50 mc's, no coupon necessary.
and no one around here was buying them, still shaking my head why not, I bought a ton of them.
people complain about having no money but when saving 10ish %% or more with the right CC, they avoid it like the plague
There is a problem with this promotion again. Purchased a $400 Visa gift card and the $10 discount did not come off. The customer service desk at the store was insistent that the offer only applies to Visa/Mastercards gift cards with the exact same packaging design as seen in the promotion graphic. I know this is not true because there is no such Visa gift card with such packaging, but they would not budge on this. I even opened up the gift card to show them the grey Visa card inside, which matches what's shown in the graphic, but the guy insisted that the outer packaging needs to match as well. I asked him to point me to a qualifying gift card, and he said that if I didn't see one that matches the grey design, then they must have sold out of them. Left the store feeling very upset on this. I should have taken his name to discuss this with corporate.
The Visa gift card that I purchased has a blue ribbon design on the packaging and the receipt shows "BHN VISA RIBBON VA" for it.
This is the second time I've had a problem with this Just For U promotion for Visa/Mastercard gift cards. Last time, I also bought a Visa card. I think next time, I'll try buying a Mastercard instead.

There's a previous thread that I have to find that discussed which cards would/wouldn't qualify for this promo. Will have to try to find it, but I believe it ended up limiting the $$ amount we could get with it (for those who are doing it for CC rewards).

I can confirm the variable load Metabank VISA also didn't trigger the $10 discount. Cashier applied manually.
Can anyone confirm the variable load Mastercard works for this promo?
Last time, it was the cash back VISAs that were on J4U promo. But those only go to $200.

What was the outer packaging design of the Visa that you bought? What's the description of the Visa card on your receipt? And how did you get the cashier to apply the discount manually? Just show the offer on your phone?
I think only certain Visas with a certain outer packaging will get the offer applied, even though all of them are supposed to qualify. I checked back on my receipts from last month when I purchased variable Visa gift cards for the $10 Just for U promo discount. On one where the discount didn't get properly applied, the outer packaging had a picture of a football and baseball and the receipt shows this as "BHN VISA VAR GC". On another where the discount did get applied, the outer packaging is all black and the receipt shows this as "BHN VISA KEVLAR VA".

thanks OP
Cc cash back and/or points, and for some people it's a way to meet minimum spending on cc bonuses.

But haven't tried it yet. I was there yesterday and was going to do it but didn't find it worthwhile if no gas points.
