Interesting book with generally great information. I found it had some (few) inflated claims based on questionable evidence, but it's presentation isn't one of pharmaceutical malevolence or eschewing of modern medicine, it's one of trying to head off problems before their start by using diet as a base. Still a good book to get info from (especially if you're curious about some of the advantages of going vegan).

If you have questions about how diet may affect a general class of conditions, this is a good one to read. (For example, I found the chapters on cancer, digestive issues, and mental issues to be informative, because these are areas of interest to me.)

Ultimately, following the tips here will likely make you healthier, since it's overarching premise is, "you don't have to be perfect, just choose healthier options. And if you have to eat something slightly unhealthy to get you to eat more healthy stuff, then do it." It ends with a few recommendations as to what you should be including in your diet daily to help improve your health and make sure you get all your nutrients from your food.

At $5, definitely a solid deal for this fairly massive book.

It skews heavily that way. But ultimately its message is "eat more whole foods, fruits, and especially vegetables."

A good companion might be Dean Ornish's "The Spectrum".

Being vegan is easy. I switched my diet up in May from a total carnivore to vegan and I don't regret anything. I've put on 30lbs of muscle because now I have the energy to workout and feel amazing. There are literally vegan substitutes for everything and companies are pouring billions of dollars into research and development of meat/cheese replacements that now taste and feel just like cheese/meat.

Hell, even on The Chew they were praising plant based burgers a few days ago like Beyond Meat: Beyond Burger (sold in the refrigerated section NOT frozen)

For cheese: try Follow Your Heart shredded mozzarella and their slices (not their block cheese) and also try Field Roast Chao Slices (creamy original is amazing)

For milk: try Silk Cashew/almond Blend with added pea protein (10g protein, 2g sugar, 130 calories) much better nutritional profile than milk and you won't be drinking pus (somatic cells), hormones (35 hormones in milk), growth factors (11 growth factors in milk including IGF1), added antibiotics/steroids/hormones, or contributing to animal cruelty Smilie

Was contemplating buying it, until I looked at my local library's online resources, and they have the kindle edition for free rental! Slick deal is to rent most books from your library. Almost all but the hottest new releases are usually available without 'holds'.
