+ activation fee $30 and tax on the full price of the phone. So add another $60-100.

Maybe also a pro-rated fee for the few days of service before cancellation if you choose to go that route.

Can someone who has successfully unlocked the iPhone for use with other domestic carrier comment the working steps here?
-Thanks (firebolt)

AT&T is 14.99 x 30 months instead of 24 months. Basically $90 more.

Seems Sprint always had the best deals. I'm lucky because I'm with Sprint and it works well where I live.

Can you pay it upfront and then cancel service or would you be locked into a 2 year contract?

you can pay it off immediately but you may have issues unlocking it through Sprint. However Sprint iPhones are able to be used on any carrier unlike att and tmoble

Do they hold you hostage for a certain amount of time prior to unlock?

Not only is sprint service the bottom of the barrel, but so is their customer service. I'm still waiting on 3 call backs from customer service specialists from 2 years ago. I called them 5 times since they locked me out of signing into my account and forced paperless billing on me. They couldn't resolve the issue across two years.

I believe it's 50 days of service but you may be able to pay it off without activating and pull out the Sim before turning it on and put in another. I have no clue if that will work. It did for some people with the Essential phone deal Sprint had (flex lease for 5 bucks a month). I got that phone and paid it off before I opened the box.

You can use cdma phones on any carrier? Methinks not

It has gsm and cdma. I know they have all the bands needed for other carriers. Google it. I bought the 7 plus a year ago from Sprint because I was thinking about leaving but decided to stay because all the deals Best buy has on Sprint phones.
