The idea is same as a pizza delivery person. They deliver and you tip for their service. The delivery men and women that work for Amazon Prime are tip workers. (And I don't need to be lectured on how much we don't need to tip for service when the companies are supposed to be paying enough wages on those delivery people, etc.)

two things: it should be opt-in not opt-out and there's no way to tip them at the door. What if they missed the window or didn't ring the bell or they threw the package over the gate?

Tip the Amazon Prime Now delivery person something. They are bringing you your package so that you don't have to put clothes on and drive to a store. They are like pizza delivery people. They deliver your stuff and you tip for their service. You don't have to tip the Amazon's suggested amount but tip something for their service.

I have never used Prime Now. I thought you could still adjust the tip amount after the package was delivered?

Also, if it is Opt-in, customers won't tip the delivery guys because people don't think the Amazon Now delivery guys are more like pizza delivery guys. People would think they are like just regular drivers who work at UPS and Fedex who don't need to be tipped (but of course, you can if you want).

Not sure either. Used it only once in 2015 when I got $20 off $40. Could have changed a lot since then. I just recall them saying that the drivers couldn't accept tips; had to be done through the order.

That's same way as Uber drivers. For Uber driers, you can adjust the tip amount after your ride, I believe. I have never used Uber, though.

Anyway, I found that OP telling people to set the tip for $0 to save money is lame. We all love to save money but we should tip service people decently when we receive the decent service from them. (Of course, I understand for not giving good tip when the service was crappy.)
