It looks like the change they made is that by default now, you check a box to subscribe in the future IN ADDITION TO buying the item today (at whatever free shipping threshold you have).
To mimic the previous behavior, below the checkbox there is a link you have to click on "Skip immediate delivery and just create subscription".
IF this is what they are doing, I think they should allow you to add non S&S items to your S&S shipments to get to $25. Would be bad if every months S&S orders needs to be over $25 to get free Shipping. Not everything can total over $25 on just S&S only.
Below is the quote from the reddit link. If both of those changes happen for non-prime members that would be very bad. I'm a non-prime member and use Amazon mostly for S&S. If they make these changes I will be taking my business elsewhere.
"If you do not have Prime, the $25 minimum for free shipping now applies. This is per order submission of Subscribe & Save items, not per monthly shipment. That is, if I already have $25+ in this month's S&S, submitting another order for a $3 item to be in the same box would require paying shipping.
The higher-tier discount for ordering 5 or more items in a single S&S shipment is only effective starting with the second shipment (e.g. "Save 5% now and up to 15% on auto-deliveries starting Mar 1. Skip or cancel anytime.")"

Garbage idea. I will not be ordering much anymore if they implement this.
I just saw the new subscribe and save set-up and if I hadn't seen this post, I would have been getting an immediate delivery in addition to the monthly subscription for new subscriptions. I find that kind of shady.
I'm not Prime and I placed 3 S&S orders this morning, the last at 11:50 am ET. They went as normal, added to 6 previous S&S orders due to arrive 1/28. All 3 orders appx. $10-$15 each.
