Found this on Best Buy's website tonight and I would presume that the price in store would be the same. Been watching Best Buy/Amazon for a sale on the 55" P Series and saw that the S Series is on sale. "Normally" $450 with occasional sales at $400 at Best Buy (Target prices it this way as well) while it's normal price at Walmart is $400. FYI, Walmart's variant (55S401) is on clearance in store only for $348. I'm not sure if there is any real difference in the two or if it's just an anti-price matching ploy. Clearly, Walmart is the better deal, but figured I'd post this for those unable to get the clearance deal/have Best Buy gift cards or rewards/want the Best Buy points/hate to shop at Walmart or whatever other reasons. rtings.com and CNet really like this TV for the value while CR hates it. Good hunting!

EDIT: Amazon is out of stock, but I'll leave this info below for reference.

As jesudas posts in the following thread, Amazon has pm'ed this price on their model:

Picture Settings for the S401/403/405

For cable/satellite TV:

TV Brightness: Brighter
Picture Mode: Normal For Roku apps, use Vivid

Advanced Picture Settings:
Dynamic Contrast: high for Roku apps, turn off
Backlight: 100
Brightness 42
Contrast 100
Sharpness 66
Color 55
Tint 0
Color Temperature cool

Depending on your room, tweak from here. Some may prefer a normal color temperature to cool, but it will decrease the peak brightness and whites of the set.

They're identical to the ones at Walmart that are 348. They're desperately trying to dump the current stock before this year's model comes out with Dolby Vision integrated (check the verge article from this year's CES). I picked one up for 348 anyways, because in reality the price point is good enough and there's barely enough content with 4k HDR at this point.

Real or fake 4k is a good site to see which studios are actually putting out 4K HDR, and a lot of titles are shot in 2k or 3k and upscaled, with still very few being true 4k recording and output. It's almost criminal that a lot of these discs being sold are UHD but then you find out it's upscaled, with no disclaimer. False advertising. Like selling crab salad with imitation crab at real crab price.

Walmart's $348 is the best price so far as far as I can tell so this is not quite as good unless you have gift cards for Best Buy or want RZ points there or you can't find one in stock at Walmart. I think Rakuten had it for $340 one day and Target had it for $320 if you got them to pm their site and use a cartwheel coupon which they aren't supposed to let you do.

As far as BF is concerned, I'm not sure if these got below $400 then. TCL approach at introducing itself to the US market seems to be one of just pricing their sets lower than comparable sets from other companies, but not having much for sales on them. The P series hasn't had a sale since before BF when I started watching it.

If the P series hits $450, I'm going to buy one for fun. These TCL TVs are awesome bang for the buck.

Don't forget that there's currently two Best Buy promotions available to save quite a bit more:

#1: Most Chase card holders can get 10% cashback on up to $300 in store.

or #2: $10 back in savings codes for each $150 GC you buy. Use a Chase INK card through Paypal or a Chase Freedom card through Apple Pay (on the Gyft app) to earn an additional 5% cashback.

That P series is just not budging on price, but it's going to have to soon with the new wave of TCLs coming in Spring!

Amazon has price matched to $369. Went ahead and pulled the trigger would rather support the lesser devil.

Glossy. The one thing I don't like about the TCL screens. Not bad in a room without bright light, but mid day or when I have my overhead fan lights on, you can see reflections, even with brightness turned up. Not super bad, but you can see if you are picky like me. But once it is calibrated, and the room isn't super bright the picture is hard to beat, and the P series is even more awesome, and I have them also but still a glossy screen.

I got this for $315 + tax last around BF from Target. But that was because of the 1 day, extra 20% on TVs

The five series which is the equivalent of this S405 will be out in three months. Short of "my TV died I have to get a new one now" Wait! The five series will add Dolby Vision, Roku Voice remote and based on this CES Show release ... possibly WCG and native 120hz. Sure it may not sell for $369 anytime soon but what it will be adding is worth a premium in my book.

TCL 2018 CES Release

"The 5-Series also comes packed with Natural Motion 240 technology for smooth action (55", 65" only), Wide Color with NBP Photon technology for exceptional colors, brighter highlights, and increased contrast, as well as the award-winning Roku TV smart platform providing seamless access to over 500,000 movies and TV shows through a simple, intuitive interface."

Should probably mention the one in this deal is not HDR, according to Best Buy. I believe the HDR is in the P-Series model.
