We're had plenty of opportunity to evaluate this kit, as well as document it.
My take:
This kit is the best value in the 4K security camera kit space right now, augment it with 2 more Dahua OEM starlight cameras for the areas which need 2 good low light cameras and you have a really nice solid performer.
Pro:
Cons:
Can you get a better kit, yes.. but it will cost more. So it is really about what you want and need.
I would have no issues installing this at my folks modest home.
If you have a large house, or large property you may want more than 6-8 cameras.

Pro:
- Best value 4K kit around
- Costco return policy
- 2 unused PoE ports - so you can augment kit with 2 more cameras
- Solid hardware.
- rtsp feeds available from camera
- can use with 3rd party apps to get the best setup
- Cameras use standard M12 threaded lens, so you can swap out the lens for a better magnification if needed.
- 4K cameras have very good daytime ID distances. ( 25 feet )
Cons:
- NVR case design and fan placement results in a bit of a noisy case - so placement locations for this kit should reflect that. ( hint: DO NOT put it in your bedroom! )
- NVR is unable to live stream all 4K streams at full resolution - this is true of NVRs and even many PCs - so not so much of a con, just reality.
- Only holds one HDD.
- Lorex changed the OEM firmware to disable the more advanced "IVS" features - most people probably OK with the motion detection features.
Can you get a better kit, yes.. but it will cost more. So it is really about what you want and need.
