Meh, I'm mixing up my accounts. The Dropbox one is only for either 18 GB via the referral process (your own account, I've bought this before), or 22gb (account is provided to you). But both are lifetime.

I'm mixing up with the OneDrive 5Tb plus Office365 for 5 devices, lifetime on both via a student license, at $10 give or take. Again, account is provided to you. I've done this as well.

All 3 options are legal for them to sell under EU law.

Just go on eBay and search for either "Dropbox lifetime" or "OneDrive lifetime". Either way, if you do go with one, go with a seller that has some history & this negative feedback would be hurtful. I had an issue with the OneDrive one (account didn't work) and the seller took fixed it within 15 minutes.

I don't keep anything in these that's either not encrypted or with identifying info so not worried. Good for others to keep in mind though. I've even used a Vera Crypt container in there before.

Yeah, definitely do that if you want a third party that you don't know to have access to all your personal files.

Oh, and definitely do that if you want all your cloud file store subject to immediate shutdown if/when someone decides you no longer qualify to be a participant in the charity account that someone is misusing to sell those $15 accounts on eBay.
