We go through this every year, and every year the "IT WILL BE MUCH CHEAPER SOON" folks are wrong. Prices do decline year over year, but not to the degree these folks seem to keep thinking, especially on what remains the flagship TV technology out there, that occupies only a niche % of the top end of the market.
The 2018 C8 is hitting stores next month. Supply on the '17s will be drying up soon, as will the low '17 listings at lower-priced shady sites for price protection.
Every year it's the same thing- the "legit" cheap sellers like Frys or Beach have closeout sales that star to get nearish what the "shady" guys had been listing for- the shady places move on to listing the next-years models impossiblly cheap and don't drop the previous-years prices any further...
So in the end the people who kept waiting either:
End up buying in like March or April with the same net price they could've had in roughly November with price protection
or
They wait too long and end up paying more than they could've gotten it for earlier
or
They miss out entirely and are stuck waiting yet another year for the price they were SURE it would hit this time! (these folks occasionally luck out with a one-off open-box/return deal at Best Buy or something a couple months later though)

Every 2 years? Isn't that expensive, and selling the old one must not easy. I have the e7p, excellent picture quality and 4k. seems no reason to ditch it after just 3 years
