This axe features a shaped and thickened nylon ergonomic handle for improved comfort and less vibration. -Corwin
Walmart says the weight of the hatchet with the plastic cover is 735 grams. My actual Fiskars X7 with cover is 705 grams. Pretty close.
Anyone on the fence about this deal, I can vouch for this based on it a worthwhile deal for the occasional user. Sure, you can spend a little more and get better but it's really not worth it and this is coming from a guy that has a working wood stove (don't call it a fireplace because those are more for looks and less about heat at which point might as well just get the pretty gas log lookalikes) that is fed all winter long. Oh, I suppose I should explicitly say that yes I do cut my own logs as that's not a given these days
After 5 years of just using a chainsaw and maul to keep it fed, I've added a log splitter ran by a Honda engine. To this day though, I keep a little cheap hatchet like this (hardwood wood handled, hand forged hatchets are super pretty and I've bought a few that I am embarrassed by what I paid but it hurts a lot when you lose or break or that pretty little thing starts rusting of the three, all or one will happen) to save having to go grab and swing the maul, as well as being great little impromptu mallet.
Is it the best steel in the world? God no but it doesn't need be. This is one application in tools where weight makes up for any shortcomings in material and design. Pure physics.
Caution: If it's anything like the other Ozark Trail metal tools, it's going to be unnecessarily sharp (what happens when you mass produce and sharpen metal on a machine rather than by hand) so for the love of God check this before you hand this off to 7 year old Johnny on his first scout trip... you wouldn't believe what these can do by dropping them by accident much less someone swinging it.
It's fun watching Fiskars owners talking about another axe, like Gransfors Bruks owners talk about Fiskars haha.

headed to store to pick up. I have been super impressed with some of the Ozark trails products... the tumblers, coolers and some of the tents for example offer tremendous value for the price.
If this is as good a clone as some of the other Ozark trail products I have this is a super deal!
Nice! What party of the store did you find it in? Camping? Garden tools? Clearance area?
it should be in the camping section.
I have used these to clear the trails around my towns only offroad riding area and they work great. with that being said ive never owned or even seen this fiskar's pair.
great for what I needed.
I've had an x7 for years. Buy the real thing and give it to your grandkids. Its more than the general shape of the tool, its the steel its made from. Don't bother with this unless its $2.

It's a Chinese wannabe Fiskars, but I don't think it could hold a candle to orig. Fiskars from Finland.
Thanks and REPS for the share.

Camping section, but my store (03431) was doing a "mod" and they grabbed them from a box for me.
