Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the 3D NAND capability of the S55 worth an extra $4? Not to mention an extra 16GB.

And video cards... Please lol
Controller in this model doesn't handle a full drive well, so keep it below 80% full and it's a pretty solid piece of hardware.

Solid product.
First time when "Silicon Power" hit the market I bought one 120Gb due to 'low price' and used it mostly as a gaming drive - so a lot of activity on it and today is still going strong!

Interesting... the review states that this model doesn't have DRAM which is the reason for the slow-downs. But the drive description on Newegg and Silicon Power's website both state that it does have DRAM.

I ordered it last night based on that part of the description. I might have to return it if it doesn't have the advertised DRAM.

I'm kind of confused now as to what we are getting. The review quoted above for the S55 shows the S55 as having 3D NAND as well as having no DRAM.

In theory yes but so far the results are very debatable.

Here's my benchmark comparison between SP S55 slim vs Crucial MX300 vs Samsung EVO
https://imgur.com/a/SdnOR

Also SMART ID dump of the drive says the following

------[ SMART Device 0 ]------

Model ID : SPCC Solid State Disk
Temperature : 5 C (ID: C2h)
SSD Life Left : 100 % (ID: A9h)
Lifetime Writes: 72.59 GB (ID: F1h)
Lifetime Reads : 61.84 GB (ID: F2h)
Power-On Time : 5.63 days (ID: 09h)
SSD Ctrl Type : SM2246 (ID: 43)

Controller is SM2246 and the only page I could find for the related controller is SM2246EN which is equipped with 256MB Nanya DDR3.

Although mine's SP240GBSS3S55S25AE while this one is SP240GBSS3S55S25AC

I haven't been catching up with tech in a while, can someone clarify something:

This is a TLC NAND storage with SLC cache (not true SLC drive), does this mean the life reliability is still just TLC level?
