Hi guys, some of you may come across this issue and here's a kludge solution

Problem:
Hik-connect App (or LaView Connect or any of the re-branded app) currently use "Media Volume" for the ring tone when someone press a doorbell to start the intercom process and not the Phone call "Ringer volume"
My Media volume is on mute 99% of the time... Therefore, I never hear the hik-connect intercom connection request since its on mute

Solution:
On Android there are free apps that can control volume on a per app basis (I use volume master), it allow you to set any of the volume on an app by app basis when the app comes to the foreground. some also can be set to do a short vibrate when the app is adjusting the volume of the foreground app. So i have set all my volume to 100% when the Hik-connect app is in the foreground which the app WILL pop into the foreground when someone press the doorbell.

Remember to keep your setup secure

Use a VPN, do not port forward
Change Default User/Passwords
Turn off UPnP

Got in on this last time it went for $99. Decent camera, though I had the damnedest time getting it to connect to my WiFi. Had to add an AP really close to get it to work. Granted, it's outside, but my phone registered -60dbm at the same location.

Good deal on a nice Hikvision OEM video doorbell which allows local on premise video storage ( can hook up to a NVR )

Awesome find! I've been eyeing this on Amazon for $130 for the past few days. So glad I waited. Thanks and repped!

Solid 1080p cam that doesn't require a subscription! Was disappointed at first (just like Good2BCh13f) but wifi remained connected well after ~1 day. Can't figure out how to record to FTP as the config is quite odd. Anyone get this to work?

Also, the cam eats up the amps/volts (whatever it is) as I had to remove my NuTone door chime from the circuit! Need to replace with a lower powered chime...

NOTE: Was a better deal the last time...same $99 price but came with a $10 Newegg eGift Card!

Question regarding connecting this with your NVR:
It seems you have to have a computer running BlueIris to connect this to your NVR right?
Currently I have a Lorex NVR system and the hard drive is inside the NVR box. I don't have a computer with BlueIris. I would not be able to connect this doorbell to my NVR (and store the video in the hard drive inside the NVR box) right?
Thanks!

Understood but I can't find it! Darn contractors sheetrocked everything during the renovation. Have any good suggestions to see through walls? Perhaps the Walabot.

I haven't had the best results, microphone volume is very low even when to max through the app. No good way of exporting the video or pic if you need them. My time is off due to daylights saving switch and no matter which cst with DST off and on the the same time and off by one hour. I'm not getting an approval to send it back but they want shipping paid by me back and forth for a $100 camera.

Walabot won't find this... first, google to see what it looks like if you don't already know.

Then find out what circuit breaker turns off your doorbell and see if anything else is connected to the same circuit; e.g. ceiling lights, outlets, etc.

Once you've isolated the circuit, it's a matter of finding where the electrician attached the transformer. My guess is that it's installed on one of the junction boxes or outlets. It might be accessible by unscrewing the bulb, removing the outlet, or junction box. You might have to cut a panel out of the drywall...

I have this a few months now. Video quality is very good. As a camera, I recommend. As a doorbell, I do not recommend. It failed at the basic function it's designed to do; see who's at the door and talk to them. Everything about the app is frustrating (lags, interface, notifications - yes, they get notifications wrong!, ring tones, two ways communications). It does keep good record of who came by your door.
