You did it wrong. And applying with your SSN had nothing to do with your decline. Don't pretend to have an elaborate business that you can't back up - even if you can stretch it to seem kinda plausible.

What you should have done (and could do in 30 days if you wish to reapply) is to simply apply as a "Sole Proprietor". From that point, pick a category/subcategory that makes sense for you, put minimal levels of income and years in business. I have gotten 3 Chase business cards doing exactly that (2 using my SSN, the 3rd with an EIN), as have a large number of other people - oddly enough, it is easier to get approved following those steps than for legitimate small business owners applying for their businesses.
That one has an annual fee and requires $5k spending from what I can see, but the CB and bonus amount are indeed better.
When I signed up years ago, basic Ebay sellers were viewed as a business. Today YMMV but I still have the card.

One thing to know, the buyer protections granted to customers of non-business VISA cards may not come with the business card. You may want to check carefully before using this card for higher risk purchases.

How long does it take to get the card in the mail from the time you're approved, and is there a way for them to expedite the shipping of the card?
About a week for regular mail -- you can ask for free expedited shipping after approval (UPS in 2-3 biz days)
Quote from Gothgar :
Does this report to credit agencies? I am a sole prop but don't want this card to report as I run a high revolving balance that I pay off every month. The Costco citi card does and it messes with my personal credit too much.
Nope -- they check your personal credit so it'll be a hard inquiry, but Chase biz cards don't show up on your personal report

See what? The hard inquiry will be on your personal report, but the card itself doesn't show up on there

Chase/Amex don't report business cards to personal reports (unless you default or something)

Are you personally liable for the credit card balance if you default? I think I signed up with a Company TIN but I did provide my social as well.

You have to enter your TIN as well as your SS. I do actually have a business. The fine print says you are personally and jointly responsible with the compny.

This means you were delinquent with this card at some point.

I got the same letter, but had to send them the info before I was finally approved.

Then you're either mistaken, or you're the only person on the planet that has a Chase business card on their personal credit report. Despite your assertion, Chase business cards do not appear on your personal credit report.

Ok. I called them up. Chase confirmed that business cards do not report to the credit bureau. They put me on with a credit specialists and discovered that I am an authorized user on my brother's CSR. I don't have any other Chase cards and it is weird that my brother's balance shows up on my credit report.

Why would it be weird? You're an AU on a card so the card is on your report -- its normal

Thanks for clearing up that mystery. And it's not weird at all. If you are an AU on anyone else's personal credit card, it will show on your credit report and have an impact on your credit score.
