Price is slowly coming back down.. soon I'll be getting 1080 to version at this price within the next month or so

I'm fairly certain this is a go. I placed an order for a 1070 at 489 about two weeks ago that looks identical, also a gigabyte. It was due to be shipped for delivery Friday and just updated to Wednesday earlier today. I cancelled that order when this one popped up.

By the time this is in stock and ships, it should be very close to the 2080 launch. The 1080 is a great card but is investing in a card that will be two years past launch (May of 2016) really a good idea?

Which would make sense if it not for the rumor of Nvidia making mining only Pascal cards meaning they are still ramping production

nvidia cant stop mining. If they ever release nvidia drivers for linux. That would be the end of it.

since volta already works on linux that means unless nvidia release Touring that isnt just volta without tensor cores, it would work too. meaning nvidia already screwed themselfs stopping mining.
