Dude you are talking about spending a minimum of $600, if you are lucky, on some used machines vs. this for $50.

Now I'm not some kind of coffee snob or hipster but I like coffee and specifically, I like espressos. I've also been to Italy 3 times. Also, my dad has one of those expensive espresso makers with a big hand lever from Italy. It takes like 10 or 15 minutes for the boiler to get hot and build up pressure. Super annoying, but it makes a great espresso. So anyways, I have this espresso maker and I bought it 10 years ago and it gets used multiple times per day. It still works and has never broke and more importantly, it makes a decent espresso. Is it the best? No. But, it's a good decent espresso. If you are the kind of person that needs to spend a minimum of $600 to enjoy an espresso, this is not for you. But for everyone else, this is a good buy.
I used a cheaper Burr grinder for a while but it was annoying because of the mess. Just got tired of dealing with the mess. So now I now just use Cafe Bustelo or Cafe la Llave and empty it into one of those airtight Oxo containers. They are ground just right, really easy, and make a decent espresso.

I'm sure some people would consider me to be some kind of neanderthal or something for using preground coffee though.

I used a similar model (not the same) years ago. I think it is ok for the money, but it is quite hard to get a good drink from it. The portafilter is smaller then standard and flimsy. Again, it is only 50$ so I guess it is ok. Just don't expect the same level as 500+ machines.

This is an excellent machine. I have complaints about it, such as the vertical clearance and the shape of the wand. These are minor compared to how it makes an excellent espresso.

Great machine. One of my favorites after only 3 months.
We have the $76 and $151 models that are on sale at work and like those too.

This is the well-known beginner's machine with people starting out with espresso. The home Barista forums have info on mods and helpful tips. Agreed with all here, this makes awesome espresso.

Mine lost pressure after a year or two and it's basically a milk frothing machine at this point. I liked it when it worked and it produced decent shots for the price. I am perfectly happy to just make poor man's 'esspreso' with a moka or Aeropress these days until I decide to go for something more pro- or pro-sumer.

I have had this for 3 years. First one broke after 2 years and I bought a new one for $100 so I could buy square trade warranty.

Great product. Get coffee from Costco or trade joes.
We have hard water, buy the warranty if you do too. On the last one - the water line broke and it started leaking.
