DSG has the Camp Chef SmokePro ZG pellet grill/smoker for sale at $399.98. Looks like it is in-store or online with in store pickup only (shipping not available). If I remember right, the sign said the sale was until May 5th.

https://www.dickssportinggoods.co...trplltxcfp

This model is specific to Dick's--it seems to be the DLX model (body style, cooking space, etc) with a few new features of the SG model (dual temp probes, slide and grill feature).

Coupons/rewards/10% email signup can be added to make this a bit better.

For reference, the ZG regular price is $599.99. The DLX can be found for ~$500, and the SG is around $650.

Good deal, been eyeing these. I'd prefer the larger size, but for this price it's tempting to stick with this one... as I'm not sure the larger size is worth 2x the price.

Thanks!

Yeah, looks like a pretty good deal. I went ahead and ordered one for Store Pickup. A friend found this statement from Camp Chef on Smoking Meat Forums:
Quote :
Thank you for your email, yes the ZG is the model grill we manufacture for
Dick's Sporting Goods. The ZG is just like our PG24SG
https://www.campchef.com/pg24sg.html, it will have the slide and grill
technology. if you let me know what specs you would like to know I can see if I
can find that information for you. Let us know if you have any other questions,
have a great day.`
So while there have been some cheaper pellet grills posted here on SD, this one seems to be bigger and have more features than the cheaper ones that I recall. Thanks OP!

Oh, and here is more info in that same forum posting -- so maybe they aren't identical:

The SG and ZG are not exactly the same though. Just from the pictures I can see that the bases are different. The SG has L-shaped legs and a bottom shelf while the ZG has square legs that are larger than the DLX legs but no bottom shelf. There were also different specs for many features. I took a picture of the ZG spec sheet at the store and compared it to the SG specs on the website and there are slight differences in capacities. For example ZG 3778 cubic inch - SG 4859, grilling area ZG 776- SG 811, hopper volume ZG 18 lbs - SG 22, ...

It appears to me to be a DLX with the direct heat feature, upgraded legs, a larger upper grill shelf, and upgraded controller with dual meat probes.

I would agree with this

I bought this yesterday. Well packaged, pretty easy to assemble (although having an extra person is extremely helpful--especially attaching the chimney). Haven't cooked on it yet, but pretty excited about it for the price. Seems like a good mid-level smoker for entry level price.

Is the warranty only 1 year? I find that to be lower than most of their competitors...any thoughts?

Just so you know, 10% off for email signup does not apply to sale items

"3-Year Manufacturer Warranty" is stated on features page.

@CS7238, can you comment on if it's the same as the PG24SG at https://www.campchef.com/pg24sg.html? There is a discussion here (that I was quoting from) where they speculate on what it is: https://www.smokingmeatforums.com...ds.274760/
Thanks

No, it's not quite the same as the SG model. From what I can tell, it uses the DLX frame [campchef.com], but has the "slide and grill" feature and a controller that has 2 temperature probes instead of only one.

The SG seems to have different legs and a lower rack, a slightly larger cooking area, and a slightly larger pellet box.

I'd describe it as halfway between the DLX and SG.

Great info... thanks! Still sounds like a pretty darn nice grill for the price. I think I would rather have the "slide & grill" and 2 probes vs. slightly bigger cooking area and pellet box anyway.

I wish it was a bit bigger. Was looking at my friends yesterday that is this size and he suggested getting one a bit bigger - said he regretted buying one that small.

In case it helps others, I just called Camp Chef and spoke to a very nice and knowledgeable lady to walked me through the differences. Key points she made:
  • Same size cooking area as SG (in terms of square inches space on the grate/grill where the food goes)
  • However, the SG is 11" inch from the grate/grill to the top of the "hood" while the ZG is 9"
  • She summarized it that it "cooks like the SG but cosmetically it looks like the DLX" (she said she owns a DLX)
  • She said the hopper on the ZG is 18 lbs vs 22 lbs on the SG
  • Her DLX has the same 18 lbs hopper and she said she has never "run out" of pellets in a smoke/cook
  • ZG has 2 warming racks, 2 probes and does accept the "side searing accessory grill" (she said you remove the side shelf and it would attach there)
So, it seems to confirm it's a pretty nice smoker/grill and a good price. I'm going to go pick mine up now. :-)
