This depends on how you measure value. I still have both in my house so I feel like I can give an unbiased answer.
If you don't have a 4k tv nor a 1440p monitor and neither of these purchases were in the cards anyhow, I would not bother.
Let's say you do have a 4k tv/monitor or 1440p Monitor, or you are purchasing one anyhow. Then it becomes a bit more compelling.
Graphically speaking, it is very difficult for most people to tell the difference between a 4k game vs a 1080 game. Depending on the size/distance to your tv and your ability to perceive those differences and the type of game you are playing, you may not be able to tell at all.
Is this difference enough to warrant the purchase for you? I would ask myself that question.
HDR is also slightly better on the One X than it is on the S, however if you do not have a tv or monitor capable of showing a wide color gamut and that gets 400nits of brightness on average or better that won't matter either. The difference will be difficult to tell and non existent at times.
Hardware performance of the One X is better. Navigating through the menus is faster, flipping through settings is more responsive. It isn't a huge difference but it is noticeable.
For me where the one X truly shines is the ability to play games at or near 60fps or 30fps constant.
Let's take gears of war 4 for instance. Playing it on my 1s vs playing it on my 1x on a tv with WCG and 400+ nits brightness I do notice overall a better graphic representation of the game but it's not mind blowing, its like oh cool that candle looks a bit more realistic or hey that storm in the distance looks a bit more sharp.
Playing it on the mode where framerate is the concern versus visuals is night and day. It moves so smooth, it is really a sight to behold for someone who has never played anything higher than 30 fps.
I never knew what I was missing, now when I play between the two the difference is jarring.
Not all games support higher frame rates, not all games support 4k. Some do one or the other. I have nearly all of the titles that were released that are enhanced for one X so I didn't have to go buy more, that was a factor in my purchase as well.
XBOX ONE X is a bit more future proof. They didn't introduce 1440p, Freesync, and 120 rates for nothing. When developers dev a game that hits those targets, people who are console only gamers are going to be blown away. The one S isn't hitting 120 @ higher than 1080 and may even need to notch down to 720 to do so. I think this will be the huge difference maker but that title is probably a year off.
So SUPER LONG STORY but I hope I provided a real clear picture of the differences for you and you can decide if there is value in that.
Best deal yet on the One X. Thanks OP.

I still need to finish playing Red Dead Redemption 1 and the ability to play it in 4K on the Xbox One X sold me on this deal, thanks OP. Time to finally finish off my backlog of Xbox 360 games.

Supposedly a guy was able to snag one for 200 during that flip flop ToysRus deal.
