Damn. Many of us paid $10 a few months back thinking that was a good deal AND I still have not yet received any YubiKey.

They're great if you have a use for one (and they fit into your life/lifestyle in a natural way). If you're going to buy one and "find a use for it" then you likely won't benefit, it should replace 2F you already have in place.

No, this is a second factor authentication device (and much more). Think of it like when a one time code is sent to your cell phone so you can log into a site, but far more secure. To log into a site with a Yubikey, you'd still have to enter your username and password, but afterwards apply the second factor authentication of the Yubikey to finish logging in. This is insanely more secure because it's a physical key that can't be stolen through data breaches and can't be duplicated or trapped by a man in the middle attack. So even if your login information is breached by a Chinese attack, without the Yubikey there's nothing they can do. It's very important to have multiple keys, in the event that one is lost.

They have been pretty much handing out these YubiKey's forever

Are they even worth the plastic they are made out of? Forgetting they slap an outrageous MSRP on them.

Delayed gratification when you cancel the sub and pay less than $1 for the YubiKey 4 though woot.
Cancelling at $5 is still better than cancelling at $10, if the key every gets delivered. laugh out loud

Just got my Yubikey in the mail a couple days ago from my April order. Showed up in a large plain white envelope. Hopefully some of you don't mistaken it for spam.

I got my key from April. I am thinking may be I should add one more year and additional key. Does someone know how to add to existing account?

The website says you receive the Yubikey 4 weeks or less on the order page.

Nice to pair it up with LastPass [lastpass.com]. You have to subscribe to premium for $2/mo, though.

It seems like there's a cancel subscription link right on the WIRED customer service portal.
