CVS Info:

First of all, you will need a CVS ExtraCare card. This is obtained easily at any store at the register. Some will ask you to fill out the form then and there, others will just give you the card and ask you to return the form later.

Once you have the card, you can now start CVSing

The biggest thing to understand is that CVS uses a promotional program called "ExtraCare Bucks" (commonly abbreviated as ECBs.) These print out on your receipt immediately once you purchase an item offering them; almost like an instant-rebate you get at the register. You can turn around and use them anytime on almost anything in the store, except for alcohol, cigarettes, and gift cards.

Often, CVS advertises items as "Free after ECB" – For example, throughout the month of November, CVS has Crest Pro Health Whitening Toothpaste in 4.2 oz size, for free after ECB. The cost is $3.49, but you get $3.49 back instantly on your receipt. The best part is that there are often coupons available that can actually help you earn money… like for the above toothpaste, there are $1 off coupons available, meaning the item would be $2.49, but you get $3.49 in ECBs back. The limit on this toothpaste for this month is 2. So if you wanted to start off small to get into CVSing, the thing to do would be to buy one toothpaste in the first transaction (and use a coupon if you have one, so that you either pay $3.49 or $2.49 in cash), then use the $3.49 ECBs you get back from that first transaction to pay for the second tube of toothpaste, and again, receive $3.49 more in ECBs.

The trick now is to roll your ECBs so that you rarely pay more than maybe a dollar or two in tax on transactions, instead using your ECBs from previous transactions… then earning more to keep doing the same. It's a cycle (and a game/addiction to some, lol.)

WTH? Mad

My husband was going to be gone all day today...and I was FINALLY gonna have the whole house to myself almost all day while the kids were in school....and it's 40 degrees and raining and they freaking called off school. So I was excited all day yesterday to just have a nice relaxing day by myself and of COURSE freaking school was called off. Ranting

I actually called out, but I have some stuff for work I've been trying to figure out, so I'll spend some time on that today. Plus at some point today I have to drive down to northern va for a side job. Not looking forward to that :-/

Well, they just ran the second 7 minute session. Had one early this morning, too. So I guess that's it for today... Always tomorrow though Whee

Blah...that sucks (having to drive to northern va). I'd say drive carefully but I always feel silly saying that...cause it's not like you're gonna go "Ooooh...thanks for reminding me. :doh" lol.

hug I hate when we make interesting plans and they are ruined by logic. I had grand ideas, and started looking at Cancun, and other Mexican Riviera vacation spots. Then my husband reminded me that we don't have passports, and we can't afford to fly to Mexico. We could drive, but that would be a nightmare. Frown So now I'm looking for a nice spot in Dallas for a week in August, but find out this morning that the times have already come and gone for today.

I'm whiny, and disappointed for you. What can you do with your Paris trip?

Frown I can watch it evaporate.

He's right - but it was fun to dream about it for a bit. He did say that if fares drop considerably, we can go. So I'm scouting out fare sales... without a lot of hope. Come on $1 flight craziness! Pray

For now, I'll be content with my gorgeous house (well, it will be by the end of next week) and my healthy family.

I hope Jenni gets power back today. Pray She was stuck in the ice storm yesterday with no power. I sent her a text - will let you know what she says.

Aww that's what I did too. Our house needs some major remodeling stuff done this year so I don't want to blow our savings on flying somewhere right now. We're going to Chicago (within driving distance) and I'm going to slickdeal the crap out of the trip - makes it that much more fun for me that way!

You can pick somewhere within driving distance... the road trip is half the fun. bounce

Good luck tomorrow hug

Jenni had power for a bit last night, but it's out again. 2000 in town and 4500 county-wide are without power. Cold She says it's freezing cold!

Aaaw, that really sucks! I would kick myself if they do a $1 flight craziness, that would be awesome. How much time away did you plan for the trip to Paris? I was thinking about Disneyworld, but again we'd have to fly there and that would still be a small fortune.

EEK! I didn't know about Jenni - give her my love, and a blanket!

laugh out loud According to my husband, Dallas is within driving distance too. 24 hours of driving, but that's not too far for him. So he and a friend are driving down (going to QuakeCon, a big computer geek convention) and then the kids and I will fly down. My buddy is a flight attendant for Frontier, so we can get buddy passes and fly standby for $60.00. woot I'm kind of excited for that, not as good as Cancun or Paris, but it will still be a fun vacation.

Smilie The 4 star hotel on LMT is about 3 minutes away from where my husband is staying and where the convention is, so we'd be really close in a MUCH better room. laugh out loud
