Walmart has the Boost Mobile Motorola G6 Play for $79.
This is a great deal. Target rang up at $129. They would not price match Walmart because the deal is not on Walmart.com -- but the phone is clearly marked "$79" with a big yellow sticker.
I had to ask twice. The first time, the customer helper said, "no, we don't carry that". Then I was like, really? Can you check inventory? And poof, they had three. I bought 2.

Not if it's the Boost Moto 6 Play but it can be unlocked. Many are putting it on the Sprint BYOD or the $15 plan and hoping it will get unlocked. It can be unlocked once on Boost for a year. There are Moto 6 phones that are unlocked but they are more expensive.
This phone has been available at Walmart for at least a month now at the $79 price.

Getting ready to cut the cord on cable tv and landline phone.
It's all the taxes and fees that make cable so expensive.
Just have to figure out the best way to stream now. We've had a few tv's streaming--but now have to get more advanced on it as we won't have the tv cable for back up.

I am not sure if the scanning at Walmart had anything to do with it. However, the rep did advise me to do something fishy lol.
Ask for the phone before they scan it, and call Sprint to activate the BYOD and that should work, then proceed to buying the phone.
Fortunately I did not open the box and can return this item.

Walmart did say I could return the phone even if it was opened. If your running out of time--return the phone and get another one so you have another 14 days but I'd try calling tomorrow and talk to a different representative. This has to be DONE over the phone with the special number or online through the special link for the BYOD for the FREE YEAR.
That's the program I signed up for and we will see how well Sprint works. It's not the best in my house but seems to work everywhere else so that's why I'm using the Moto G6 play--to use wifi calling in my house. The unlocked Moto G5+ does not support Wifi calling.
Now whether we get it unlocked will be another story. I called to get mine unlocked and they said it had to be on the service for 50 or 60 days before they could unlock it.
