Google Pixelbook Laptop - 12.3" 2400x1600, i5-7Y57, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD - $719 IN-STORE ONLY (Updated)

Best Buy has the i5/8/256 model of the Google Pixelbook on clearance, but pricing is only available if ordered in-store. Shipping is free or you can opt for in-store pickup.

Note: the current Student Coupon for 10% off should *not* apply here due to the clearance pricing exception. Fellow SDer claims they were still able to apply, so YMMV.

This is an all-time low on price and beats the FP deal from a few weeks back. No coupon needed here, as well.

** Post updated to reflect price change from $779 to $719. Best Buy will refund price difference in-store if purchased previously. **

Specs:

i5-7Y57 1.2Ghz Dual-Core (3.3GHz Boost), 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD (GA00123-US)
12.3" 2400x1600 WLED Touchscreen LCD Display
256GB PCIe SSD
8GB DDR3 Memory
Intel HD Graphics 615
Backlit Keyboard
802.11ac Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.2
Chrome OS
2x USB 3.1 Type-C
1x Headphone/Microphone Combo Jack

This is a B&M deal only, so no link to provide that will reflect the pricing. Here is the item link from Best Buy's website, but please remember the pricing will *not* reflect the clearance pricing. Again, B&M only.

I made the purchase yesterday in-store after reading the above.

I think they missed the mark on this one. The Pixel Buds are horrible too.

Paid $674 + tax last month with the student discount code, though that was for the 128gb version rather than the 256gb here.

Has anyone tried to order the 128gb version in store to get a similar discount?

Not advertised anywhere, customer rep had to check their system.

Checked, no luck. It appears to apply only to the 256GB model for stock clearance.

Yes, it's the highest end version of it.
I'm personally purchasing it for its design and portability above all else - it should do everything I need it for (Office, email, some videos). I have a dedicated Windows gaming rig with a 1070Ti for everything else.

Thoughts on 8GB versus 16GB? Usually have 30 tabs open on chrome and notoriously slows down with the current 8GB laptop I have

I have the 8gb and with 15 tabs it seems to work fine with no lag, but my problem is the tabs stack on each other and becomes hard to differentiate. Unless you make the resolution really high. Which does make text extremely small on this screen.

Usually two windows open with 10 to 20 tabs each one and connected to a monitor for dual screen. Trying to see if this lags and opt for the 16GB
