Some rooms are not conducive to large tower speakers and a sub. My setup would not allow for a receiver in the living room with the way its setup. My tv is mounted over the fireplace. I have built in shelves on each side. The shelves are not wide enough for a normal receiver.

Then I would have to deal with tower speakers with 2 brand new kittens. Imagine what they would like to sharpen their claws on?

Every situation is different and people have a reason for buying something other than something else some times.

I went from a full system with tower speakers, center chanels, woofer, receiver, surrounds to a Bose Soundtouch 300 and woofer and could not be happier. These are not the soundbars from 10 years ago. Some of them actually sound incredible and it's very clean looking.

Yes, old news but I can vouch for the SK9. Full sound and works perfectly.
