I want to just use this as an iPod
Yes you can, You need to leave SIM inside phone to get to home screen. Thru the setup, phone will attempt to activate itself a couple times unsuccessfully because no airtime has been added. It will eventually get to home screen and will be ready to use as music, apps, games, whatever. No need to remove SIM after that unless you start seeing that pop up a lot of people talk about. Something about activation. Removing SIM will take care of that.

Can this be unlocked
Officially - NOT RIGHT AWAY, only after 12 months on service

Unofficially - Yes, [ though people have reported variable success rates]
For Details see this website --> https://sites.google.com/view/capoinnov/ or updated site at https://www.nickycapo.com/iccid
Some R SIMS seem to work fine, whilst others not so much,
You can Buy R SIM from site above or on eBay.

DO NOT USE FREEDOMPOP SIM FOR INITIAL ACTIVATION WITH RSIM

Avoid this eBay seller [ebay.com], his rsim does not work as has been reported by multiple users. Edit: His rsim12 works fine after using a ballpoint pen and gently press the copper contacts. I hope you guys didn't throw it in the trash. Smilie

Yes, the insides are exactly the same. Only difference is

the main 12mp camera doesn't have OIS
the front camera uses the 5s 1.2 mp camera
the fingerprint reader is 1st gen not 2nd like on the 6S
no 3D touch
Sub 720p screen
For all of you asking about unlocking with Rsim

I've taken my research and made an easy(I hope) to follow guide
I've done this to my iPhone SE I got from the free MetroPCS deal
I've done this to my GFs Total Wireless SE
Plus countless other iPhones.

Enjoy

Edit: To be more clear, this is basically a factory unlock for iPhones. Also, added a dedication on the page to the SD famCool
Yes just a smaller screen.

edit:
this is almost as good as the metropcs port-in promo (which needs to be in person and need to port in)

Any chance we can return the card and keep the phone? I see the phone is coming up as about $20 on my invoice. Would be a crazy deal for that alone.

SE? Kids have discriminating tastes these days, they won't settle for anything less than a 7

Might be good for the grandpas/grandmas though.
I love my SE. The fact that I bought a new one for $150 and it's now unlocked means I can use it with any GSM/CDMA carrier. 4 inch screen doesn't bother me, it just becomes a pain when using the keyboard. I'm always texting typos, never had that issue using a Nexus 6p.
