i don't know when this ends

Delta Skymiles has put Shanghai China on sale. Fly round trip starting from 40,000 SkyMiles plus tax/fees. Their website to look for award travel is very simple to use. Two samples I attached are for ATL-PVG and BOS-PVG. I also tested a few others including JFK (also 40k).

Use this link [delta.com] and enter your departing city to Shanghai China (PVG)

Book travel from there. FYI Amex Membership Rewards is transferable to Delta SkyMiles, but not Ultimate Rewards.

A more modern city than New York with history, rich culture, and decent night life too

There are not very many cities in this world that are filthier than NYC, with that being said, San Francisco is definitely worse.

San Francisco is a filthy pit. All the bay area is. That's the thing that most people don't realize. They hear about how much houses cost and how much people in Silicon Valley make and they picture gold paved streets and pristine mansions. Nope! My first thoughts as I drove into Mountain View years ago was "What a dump." It hasn't changed.

Shanghai is cool. I prefer Beijing overall. More history, no great wall in Shanghai, just as modern and it's the biggest tech center outside of Shenzhen/Guangzhao. The tech district they have in northern Beijing dwarfs anything you would find in Silicon Valley. Picture 7-9 Fry's stacked on top of one another. Then picture a whole district of these stacked Fry's. You don't even need to leave any of these skyscrapping tech buildings. They have convenience stores and restaurants inside. One has a supermarket in the basement.

Pudong is basically the financial/business district of Shanghai. So I find it fairly boring. It's pretty to look at from the Bund though.

Here's my cheap and more traditional shopping tip for Shanghai. Many tourist shop along Nanjing Rd, the big pedestrian walk between People's Square and the Bund. But most Chinese don't shop there. Head north across the river, you can walk it from Nanjing Rd. There's another street there that parallels Nanjing Rd. That's where the Chinese shop. There's a electronics area at the tail end. On weekends you can find people selling crap on the sidewalk flea market style.
