FYI, if you pre-order the T-Mobile Note 9 through Costco with the in warehouse pickup option , they will give the promo value back (250 or 500 depending on phone - same phones/values as T-Mobile deal) split between a prepaid card by rebate and a single bill credit for the actual trade in value of the device traded in. This is instead of the 24 bill credits T-Mobile is doing. In warehouse only. New/existing customers, no new line required, One or Simple Choice Unlimited only.

Total: $999 + tax - ??? bill credit (probably $200 max unless you are trading in an S9 for some reason) - (500-credit) prepaid card = $499 + tax on full price of phone. This will of course be lower if trading in an S6 or something else that only gets the $250 promo.

Trade In Value Guarantee?

Did a chat with T-mobile and this was their reply.

Victoria at 11:11, Aug 20: Let's check it out! If you're doing a trade in directly in the store and turn it in, then the trade in value would be applied immediately and we would ship the phone back for you. If you're ordering online or doing a pre-order, you would ship the phone back when you receive the new one, and then we would inspect the phone when it arrives at our warehouse. If the store looks at the phone for you first though, they can notate on the account if the wear and tear on it is okay!

Costco Pre-Order Details

Each Costco has three (3) Pre-Order slots per carrier.

You will receive a printed confirmation sheet and an emailed confirmation. The printed version may be required for the Samsung promotion.

NO Payment is due until the device is picked up.

Total Cost Breakdown before Tax:
$1000(Total) - $50 (Costco Discount) = $950
$950 - $500 (Trade In) = $450.

Trade-In offer is valid starting 8\24. The day you actually receive the device. The promo page specifically says that Pre-orders are eligible.

This offer is not eligible for the accessory power pack or the $25 gift card. That is through Coscto.com only.

Costco $500 Trade in is a Launch Offer Not a Pre-order Offer

Your qualified trade-in device must be fully owned (all device financing paid off) and in good working order without physical or liquid damage with the activation lock or anti-theft feature turned off.

You cannot combine this offer and Carrier Freedom or #GetOutoftheRed on the same lines on your account.

this is one lousy confusing post...
The hell is someone who can't float $1k for a few weeks doing buying such a device?
Fits in my pocket just fine. It's no bigger than previous note phones.

I am sorry, but the bill credit part is not clear for me. If I am trading in my s7 edge in the costco warehouse, I would get 500 as a prepaid card, but what do you mean by the bill credit?

The bill credit is 50 percent of the credit on your first bill following the trade in. This is not any better than T-mobiles deal and apparently doesn't work for simple choice customers who aren't unlimited. The 500 trade in deal on the note 9 works for regular SC T-mobile customers on their website. Paid 360 with tax and will pay 9.16 each month for 24 months with the trade in of a s8+.

Quote from rsveteran :
Bill credit? Interesting. That would mean T-Mobile values Costco N9 buyers more than its own N9 buyers.
The past few offerings have favored Costco quite a bit across the board.
