Starts tomorrow 8/22. Buy a Galaxy S9/S9+/Note 8 at Costco, add a new line on ANY T-Mobile plan, get a second one free after rebate (Prepaid mastercard, not monthly credits).

See link for more details.

It's been a while since T-Mobile had any BOGO for folks on non ONE plans. For those of us on older Simple Choice plans, this is great if you are looking for a new phone.

You can cancel the new line after you get the rebate card in 2 to 3 months.

Doing some quick maths....

Two phones: $680 x 2 = $1,360
Taxes (F**k Illinois): $136
Cost to add/maintain a new line for 2-3 months: $30*
Rebate: $680

Net cost for two phones: $846
Cost per phone: $423

About $70 more than the S8 deal from yesterday. not bad.

*I am on a basic Simple Choice (4GB a month) plan $10 per additional line per month.
No, if you read the fine prints, any line cancelled after August 19,2018 would require you to add that cancelled line plus another NEW line in order to qualify.
Not hard to calculate.

Assuming you are under 55 years old.
2 lines on ONE plan, $120/month including taxes (using autopay). You'll need minimum 2 months.

S9 = $680 + tax,
No activation fee @ costco

So you walk out of costco paying $680+tax * 2 = $1,360 + tax (whatever your local tax rate is if any).

You pay Tmobile $120/month for minimum of 2 months so $240

you get rebate of $680 back.

Total cost $1,360 + $240 - $680 + tax on $1,360.

So you pay $920 plus tax on $1360. Or roughly $460 + tax on $680 per phone.

If you have to pay a 3rd month (if your rebate arrives late) you add another $120 making it $1,040 for both, or $520 each phone plus tax.

This is not a super great deal if you are a new customer and have to sign up for a 2 line ONE plan.

If you are existing customer on older Simple Choice plan where each additional line is $10/month then this is a great deal!

Can you still add a line and use Kick Back until you get your cards and cancel the lines?

Costco doesn't do monthly payments. You have to pay for both phones up front, plus taxes. then in 2 to 3 months you get a rebate card with the value of one of the phones.

They ended kick back a few weeks ago.

Also if you're on the older Simple Choice plans, there is no kick back. But each line is only $10 per month plus taxes.

No SIM card or activation fees either when you buy from Costco.

So the second phone is basically tax + ~ $25 to $35 (2 to 3 months of service).
