i only heard/read good things about this laptop, you got a refurb, it was probably faulty, if you dont need the GTX 1060 this is better deal for video editing and $165 cheaper (150+tax)

the SSD on this one is actualy a good brand and running 1,500/500 read/write comparing to the regular spinning HDD to the microcenter.

you have a free RAM slot to upgrade to 16GB in the future cost $60-$80

you have free 2.5" HDD slot to upgrade, SSDs are folling in price, 1TB reputable brand already been $150 will go lower in the future for sure

and lastly, this is Best Buy store on eBay, you get 14 days return, blast ut for 2 weeks, make sure it works

Here is a good review of the Laptop [youtu.be]
Same price for a while now. Got this at same price bout 4 months ago.

Got this one from Blinq and had to return it after 3 weeks. The computer would freeze after some light Sony Vegas video editing (about 30 minutes or less) and YouTube (learning how to edit on Vegas). When it froze I had to either let the battery die or unplug it manually. I don't know what was wrong with it and I did not bother examining. The deal I got was cheaper than this one but it was used. Should I give it another chance? Price seems a bit steep taking into account that with $150 more I can get the Dell G3 from MicroCenter. Also, the price on this thing keeps on going down every month which makes me think that most units have a manufacturer defect. Can someone give me some advise please? My budget is kinda limited.

The one from microcenter, might be a 2x4gb ram configuration so if you're ok with that. I'm looking for a good computer to edit on.

You made some good points. I read some people had different problems with this one. Blue screens, random hangs, battery issues. Now, what if the price goes down to $500 or less in a month? If I decide I want to buy it, should I wait a bit? I'm thinking it might get cheaper in a few weeks.

i dont think this exact laptop will be lower than that price, its Best Buy exclusive, 2 things have to align for it to be at $600 - to be on sale at Best Buy, and at same time an eBay cupon for $100 off

obviously next year might be $50-$100 cheaper with the new video cards comming out etc, in my opinion this is absolutely great value for brand new, and the quality components..

besides that, theres 3% cashback from polular sites to bring it $20 down aswell

OK, big-time "newbie" question (but pretty good at video / photo editing at least!) : I have a "spare" 2.5 inch SSD (Samsung?) so I assume it's just a matter of a few screws to put it in? Obviously, it'll boot from the original M2 SSD and the 2.5" will be for data / storage? Will there be any special brackets, ribbons, or clips needed to connect / install this "old" 2.5" SSD? Sorry for the rather "elementary" questions - probably have tutorials on YouTube for this type of thing?!

I bought thus laptop 5 months ago for $680 And am so happy I did. I use it every day. It will play all current games on at least medium setting and past games on higher settings. Should be good for the next 3 years or 4 years of new games on medium/low setting, which is all I need as I save up to buy a house (strict budget).

It will also play VR games extremely well.

Don't wait hoping for a lower price, it probably isn't getting lower until next year when the 2019 model comes out and it will only be another $20-$40 less on sale at that point.

How's battery life since this users an H processor vs the U that most laptops have? Looks like H is 45w and U is 15w. Sounds like a lot, but not sure how that works out on the real world.

Can this be charged via a Typc C PD power bank?

If I'm never going to game/do anything that requires use of the NVIDIA card, am I just better off finding something else?

All gaming laptop will have crap battery life unless they weigh a lot. If you don't need a discreet video card then you probably wouldn't want this laptop.

battery life would not be good, 3-4 hrs max doing regular daily tasks, yeah get the "U" version processor laptop, and no, it can not be charged via the usb-c
