Old people do this all the time. Never throw out anything from the freezer or refrigerator without opening and making sure what is actually in there.
They very often leave emergency infor and contacts in the refrigerator because for some reason everyone should know that's where they keep it in case something happens to them.

My guess is that the money was thrown away. I mean would you open a plastic bag with paper towels inside that had been sitting in a unplugged freezer for who knows how long. Sick

I remember when my grandpa passed away and he had a package of brand new sock that we gave to family member. Well apparently there was $700 hidden inside. They did give the money back to my grandma.

She's not getting it back from the people that took the freezer. The money was either thrown out or found by someone that just hit the $35k jackpot.

I'm sure a gofundme will be setup by someone and she'll end up with over $50k. That's the kind of silly shit that happens these days

Update, okay I hate to call this lady an badword, but she is. Read this crap.

Quote :
Reese is concerned about the type of people hired by the subcontracted delivery companies and questions how thoroughly Costco and other retailers perform background checks of those people.

"Who's checking these people? What if they're rapists or pedophiles? I mean, nobody knows anything and you can't talk to them, at least through the experience I've had," she said.
Screw that lady, that's a messed up thing to say about the company that did their job.

Quote :
She said Costco's subcontracted delivery people arrived at her home for the exchange with little notice, after she hardly slept the night before while mourning a longtime friend. In the process of hurriedly clearing out the defective refrigerator and freezer combo, she overlooked the bag of money.

"I thought my daughter had grabbed it, she thought I had grabbed it, then when I went to look for it to put it back, it wasn't there," Reese said.
Also, who the hell assumes anything when it comes to your life's savings????? Like seriously, if there's meat, juice, milk and $35k in the fridge, please believe the $35k is the first and maybe ONLY thing I'll make sure is removed before they haul it away is the $35k.

For her to be going this crazy over the missing money, she sure did let it leave with the freezer very easily.

I believe very few things 100% and I have about 85% belief that money was actually in the freezer when it was hauled away. 15% of me believes the $35k could have never existed or the $35k was missing but she or her daughter has since found it and are now pushing to double her money.

Who knows if the money was actually there? She may well have removed it some other time and spent or deposited it. MS can affect memory.

Or she could be making the whole thing up. She was awfully quick to accuse the delivery people of being rapists and pedophiles.

She's a bit crazy, a bit stupid, and maybe even a bit dishonest. Who keeps 35 grand in their house unless they are trying to hide it for some reason?
And WTF, why is she calling people that work for Costco pedos, and why is this THEIR fault?

Folks with MS can do goofy things. The have, literally, short circuits in their brains where the "insulation" around their neural wiring breaks down.

Well then maybe she hid it somewhere else in her home and can't remember. How does she know it's really 35 thousand we are talking about? I may be kind of dumb but even in a fire I don't see a fridge protecting your money very long. This whole story sounds wacky.

On a completely unrelated topic. Does anyone want to play "does the random stranger have a substance abuse issue as a result of their affliction? Heroin, Oxys, meth, marijuana, etc... and they need cash now?"

If the lady in fact lost the $35K this way, it's her fault. For her to blame Costco and their contractors for stealing her money without any proof, gets no sympathy from me. There's no need for anyone to keep $35,000 in their freezer or their house, unless they're a drug dealer. No mobility excuse either. Everyone takes credit or debit cards. Use those.
