Costco is running a $30 OFF discount on the Netgear Orbi Mini 2-Pack AC2200 Tri-Band WiFi System this week. Killer deal, but you do need a Coscto Membership to purchase.
Yeah, will both the router and the satellite extend an existing network?
I got the Orbi system and I love it in my dead house, but jesus satellites are EXPENSIVE (like 150+ each). That's the price of some entire mesh wifi networks.
I only really need one more satellite but when this system is the same price as one satellite, I might as well further extend my network.
To be fair, the Orbi is not the same as other cheaper WiFi mesh solutions, it runs a dedicated 5GHz channel backhaul so bandwidth is not cut in half at the satellite.

Looks like not without having a 2nd network (what's the point then)
You cannot use a router as a satellite, but you could buy the system and resell just the router.
I have this system, but two satellites. It is overkill for my 2000 sq ft house, but I get my full 50/50 service everywhere in my house, front and back yards. Really nice that it has 4 ports in the back. That way I use the orbi's wifi, not the individual devices.

I think these units only have 2 ethernet ports so you might have the rbk40 I think if you have an ac2200 unit.
This is the older model right? What's the comparison between the AC2200 and the AC3000?
I can't say about AC2200 , as I never had it but AC3000 great so far from last 2 week. Frontier with 150/150 and I am getting wireless 150/150 down stair and upstairs.
Love it so far. I need one more satellite RBS50 but its so expensive. Wondering if if we can mix and match lol.
I have 980/980 Mbps FIOS at my new place, so speed kinda matters. I think the Netgear site says the AC2200 has 887 speeds to the satellite, versus 1.7 GB for the AC3000. Since I'm realistically only getting max of ~800 Mbps anyways, the lower model might just be enough.
In my new place (rental), there's a jack in the living room for Ethernet but the owners never connected it for some reason. So I'm hoping to use this for my TV streaming as well as wifi throughout the house. What do you think, 4k HDR streaming at ~500 to 800 Mbps might be enough?
